I have a Squire Bass VI already and I'm quite enamored with it. However, I wanted a back up, and I was curious to see how a VI would sound with p-90s, so last night I patched it all together. I'm waiting on a Staytrem bridge (cuz the bridge I'm using as a temp barely cuts it with bass strings)and it needs a detailed set up, but you get the general idea here. I grew up in the era of Big Daddy Roth, surf music, and Nuke drills, etc so I went with a sort of SoCalbeat up beach shack theme (Beach shacks are now an extinct species in these parts, but they were actually here at one point). Just thought I'd share.

That should sound great. P-90s and low frequencies sound like a perfect match.

That was my theory. The initial tests are encouraging. Stay tuned.

Looks fab.
What are the origins of the parts you've used - Fender body, from where did you get the 30" scale neck?

A guy by the name of DC Kunkle. He runs his "store" out of ebay, which sometimes disappears but comes back again. it's 30.25 and a really nice neck! It came to me in a bleached oak (which I'm not too fond of) so it got a laquer job. He does good work. Not super fast, but he's upfront about that and communicates well. The body came out of ebay also, mystery origin but likely Chinese. It was already cut for dual p-90s, which is what I was looking for. Standard Fender old school tuners. Wilkinson pups, Stratosphere electronics (I forget the specifics) and a Chinese Bigsby (not too bad for the bass! The spring is over sized but that may be a plus with the heavy strings. Haven't tried one on a standard six string). I 'm new to building and this was an experiment on many levels so I low balled on many of the parts. I can upgrade later on if I want to.
