A while back I got this album from The Intoxicators' website, which wasn't the easiest thing in the world to find because somehow it didn't come up on the first page of Google search results. Go figure.

I started writing a lengthy review on it here, but it got lost in a browser mishap. I only occasionally write music reviews because I try too hard and think that everything has to be print publish-worthy. That is way too high a standard for the internet, so here you go.
I've only seen references to it here in Storm Surge of Reverb and Fiberglass Jungle playlists, so I have to assume that most of you here aren't hip to it. There's a lot on this disc for us to love. Furthermore, I know that they aren't going to show up here to tell you about it. The Intoxicators aren't and have never claimed to be a surf band, but I think that doesn't matter nearly as much to us on this forum as the people in those "not really surf" instrumental bands' paranoid visions lead them to think. This album is great, instro, twangy goodness. The songs are great, well-played, and only lacking in energy when compared to their live show. My personal favorite is "A Single Point of Failure."
Go, give it a listen. Or, hell, shock the crap out of them and buy a copy.

I have made a personal pledge to write a post about music for every post I make about gear. I think what I wrote hardly qualifies as a review, but this is one among a number of albums I've thought should be discussed here that hadn't. I think just mentioning albums or bands with a general recommendation is enough. It's not like I don't sit around listening to instro music at least half the time.

I just listened to the demo track of the Intoxicators, and I have to say I really like this band; I like what they have to "say" (good creative ideas) and I like the sound of how they say it. Good goin', guys!
