So, I found myself the only member online last night. However, there were something like 150 non-members online. I found that a great sign as to how well the site is doing. And almost 3.4 million visits since Feb '06. Now if everybody bought a 'Verb record we would be rich.

I'm a pessimist, I guess. A lot of the "non-members" are search engine bots, crawling the site. Yahoo in particular is going nuts right now. They changed something and are re-crawling like mad. Maybe we can trick them into buying something?
I still need to buy your record, and the Lava Rats, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I can use my hacking skills to set it up to steal the yahoo bot's credit card numbers and make them buy a 'Verb cd and a SG101 T-shirt.
That would only work assuming they have a credit card number. And if nobody can tell I'm a little doped up in the hospital right now. Woohooo! And it is only 6:30am

Jake, it's hard to tell, we just assume you're always a little doped up.

Thanks DP. Very obtuse surf content: It's a Pendleton!

Quite suave and debonair. Like the Hugh Hefner of SG101. Gidget will be impressed!

What exactly is a pendleton? I know our pro-testicular cancer member of the board gave a definition a while back but I do not care to hunt it down.

I'm kinda suprised you don't knoy Jake, as the Pendleton Flannel's are were very popular in the NW.
Surfers wore them also.
Pendleton is a town in Oregon and where the company is.

Flannels are not exclusivly Grunge, Luberjacks wear them. Surfers used to wear them in the 60's,some still do. and I wore them in the 80's before Grunge came out, stopped wearin' them when Grunge was big, and started again, after Grunge went away.

Why did surfers wear them? Is it not a touch warm in southern california for a flannel? Are the mornings pretty chilly down there like they are up here? I always wear a sweatshirt in the morning even if it was 100 the day before.

Yes winter is very cold, and the surf is better in Winter.
And surfers like to surf in the morning and even hot summers days are about 50 to 60 in the morning at the Beach.

there's a bunch of pics of the beach boys with pendeltons too. didn't/don't the surfers go out to the beach ridiculously early? I think that's what I got from the bruce brown movies.
nevermind my jabba jabba, what do I know?

Yes surfers go to the Beach at or even before dawn,(hence the term (dawn patrol) because there is no wind, and thats how you get the classic glassy ocean surface. the best for surfing on, with waves too of course. Wind makes everything choppy.

You live on the Frisian Coast, a surfing hotbed.

So it is a grunge flannel?
Pendletons are really high quality, nicely made, etc. Not the run of the mill Wal Mart flannel for grungers.
Don't forget John Fogerty!

Pendletons are made of wool, so they are much warmer (and itchier) than flannel which is cotton. At Torrance High School, which you may have seen on TV in 90210 and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, had Surfing class which met at the beach at 6:00am. Count me out.
