After 41 years, New Gandy Dancer "The Magazine for Rock Instrumental Music" published The Final Issue, December 2017. The issue is packed with interesting features mostly about The Shadows, and new CD reviews. In this issue editor Davy Peckett wrote that "readership is...at its lowest...70s and 80s (circulation reached) 1500 or more. This issue 129 cannot even boast 100 subscribers...but we've had a fabulous run."
He is "back to drumming for a while but not sure it is long term." He notes that these back issue remain available at this time: 115 through 128, 111, 110, 108, and 106, along with the final issue 129.

Davey and his magazine played an important role in helping spread the word for many of our bands. He provided us with a way to reach those who would be interested in what we do. I also got to find out about a lot of cool music that I would not be aware of if not for New Gandy Dancer. Thanks to Davey for the years of work.

In the late 80s in Europe your maximum exposure to Surf was a trusty crate of vinyl at the local record shop. The contents ranging from Jan & Dean to Dick Dale (once!) to The Ventures to cash-in Jazz albums to The Shadows.
Before the world wide web the only source of deeper insight were a handful of books you’d find out about one by one in every other year.
Until you finally discovered The New Gandy Dancer and the world of Rock Instrumentals and Surf was never going to be the same for you.
