Hi All! Self-taught surf guitar idiot asking for your help. Please to excuse any technical errors below.

Been JUST REALLY GROOVING on this terrific song but I'm not the best in the world at dissecting songs. So any input from real surf musicianal-types is appreciated - and here's a link to the tune:

https://soundcloud.com/bang-mustang/six-waves-under

1) The chorus part at 0:44, what's your take on how it's played? Closest I can get to is plucked octave note pairs starting with C# on the 3rd and 5th strings, 4th and 6th frets respectively, up to E at frets 7 & 9, back to C#, then single notes for the rest of each measure. Like so:

e|---------------------------------|---------------------------------------
B|---------------------------------|---------------------7---7-/9----9-/12-
G|--6--9--6---/9-99--8--6--8-------|--6--9--6--/9-99-8-9---9------11-------
D|----------------------------9--6-|---------------------------------------
A|--4--7--4------------------------|--4--7--4------------------------------
E|---------------------------------|---------------------------------------

2) Speaking of tab, how would you play and/or tab out the main riff? To my ear this starts off at the 4th fret in standard tuning, but watching a video of the band in action on YouTube it seems the guitarist is much lower on the neck and using some open notes, as if they've tuned down a half step. Frankly I am lazy when it comes to changing tuning and prefer to play in standard tuning and put my pinky to work like so:

e|--------------------------------------------------------------
B|--------------------------------------------------------------
G|--------------------------------------------------------------
D|-----------4----------------------------------------4---------
A|-----4--7-----7--4--------4-------4--6--7--------4------7-----
E|--4-----------------4-h7-------4--------------4---------------

Does that look right, or no?

As a disclaimer I fully understand that for many, tablature is the root of all evil and will lead to the Ultimate And Inevitable Demise Of Civilization Itself. Yet it seems to have its practical uses. I don't seem to learn well from reading it but I do enjoy writing it out since it does help me really pay attention to accuracy. With that in mind I could at least contribute the finished results to the tab library here as long as it's accurate.

Thanks!
-Erich
