Thought some of you guys might get a kick out of this. My son had to pick a playlist to go with a video, but we worked together and went a different direction.
We looked in the Internet Archives for movies in the public domain and picked Teenagers from Outer Space. We picked rockabilly and kinda sorta surf and other interesting pieces of music with a Creative Commons license. Then we decided on song order. We stripped the audio out of the movie, then used Audacity to turn the sound down where actors weren't talking and put the sound track back in, overlaying it with songs. We used OpenShot video editing software to mess with the music placement.
Credits are at the end of the movie.
I've been thinking of trying again, looking for another movie in the public domain (a car movie? another teenage movie? sci-fi?). Maybe just completely getting rid of the audio and re-doing the lines with volunteers and paying absolutely no attention to synching up moving lips with actual words.
Anyway, hope some of you find it interesting in an odd sort of way.
