please forgive my ignorance. I have never listened to these guys before and got a sample recently. I was really blown away. Any information on these guys would be appreciated, and of course where to buy there CD's. These 4 mp3's won't hold my ipod over too long.

Buy "Locked & Loaded". It is one of my favs. You will not be disappointed. Lead by the late, great Rip Thrillby, The Penetrators have produced amazing original surf tunes.

Seriously, thanks for the interest. Just to kind of bullet point a few of the questions and inquiries:

The present: Yes we still play, now as a 3 piece, although not nearly as much as in the oldin' days. Between the 3 of us we spawned 7 kids in the last 6 years which puts a bit of a crimp in the rock and roll lifestyle. Currently we have plans for 3 major projects (possibly 4) one of which could conceivably be released this year if all goes well. We'll see.

My learning how to play lead after being a very content rhythm guitar player for so long posed some challenges in getting up to speed as well (I literally had no idea how to play lead on anything 4 years ago - covers or originals), but I'm feeling pretty confident these days. Although, we miss Rip in the song writing process which has always been very collaborative, Trace dreamed up gems like Last of the V-8 Interceptors, 50 bucks a midget, and Night of the Drunken Cheerleaders to name a few, and I believe we have some new songs about 85% done just as good or better.

Past recordings: "Kings of the Highspeed Weekend" is officially sold out but 2 of the cuts are available on i tunes via the Spinout records "Rock don't Run 2" comp we were on. The songs are "Night of the Drunken Cheerleaders" and "Melodies Dilemma." The "Locked and Loaded" CD is still available on our web site:

Along with other cool t-shirts, coffee mugs etc. We have less than 100 copies of L&L left so that's soon to go on sold out status as well. Several other distributors should have some copies and you can download it from i tunes in it's entirety. I recommend picking up the hard copy. Rip did some unbelievable graphics for that.

The web: In addition to the numerous myspace sites detailed earlier, there is also our web site which has only been updated to announce Rip's stage exit in the last few years. I hope to rectify that soon as well.

I reckon that about brings things up to speed. One of these days we hope to have some more product out and travel to new spaces in this great country to spread the reverb. We promised we'd play as long as we have fun so I'm guessing we have 30 or 40 years left in us.

Thanks for that discography. To make a long story short I had a shitload of mp3's and cds on digital format that friends, blogs, and message boards recommended. I build up tons of stuff I had yet had a chance to preview. I was in my car driving going through this monster play list. One song really stuck out. I was hooked; when I got home I listened to Melodies Dilemma like 10 times while blissfully getting drunk. The next day I listened to the other tracks which were great. Keep on rocking bro. I am definatly going to buy whatever I can get my hands on, except maybe the coffee mug
