I used to own a black 65 and believe me these are the shiznit! Hybrid tube design that gives you a loud and clean tone. Not mine, but if I needed the volume, I wouldn't hesitate! http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-MUSICMAN-MUSIC-MAN-112-RD-100-BLONDE-CLEAN_W0QQitemZ280129133980QQihZ018QQcategoryZ118983QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

That covering is called "pinwale" and is the rarest.
That being said, RD model Musicman amps really suck.
The earlier "sixty-five" and "one-thirty" amps that use the 12AX7 in the phase-inverter are the ones to have.

That's the one I had the 65. I assumed it was the same basic design...

Nope, only the early el34 models (sixty-five/one-thirty) have the tube phase inverter, the newer ones ('bout '75 on) have a solid-state phase inverter and they tend to be overly bright and harsh. I play through a "sixty-five" 1-12 right now, I've owned a couple of them over the years and they are great sounding amps. I modded the reverb tank by swapping springs and transformers until I got a sound I liked. Used to be able to buy 'em for $175-$250, now a good one will run you $400 which is still a bargain.

As soon as I get the money, I'm going to be buying me a Music Man HD-130, since it's pretty much what I want in a tube bass amp.

Our first bassist, Marc Emmons, used a Musicman one-thirty bass amp. His had 6CA7 tubes (industrial version of el34) and sounded great. I think you'll like it if you get one.

Nah forget the musicman bass/guitar rigs get yourself into a BF Bassman head or even better for bass and killer is a Showman, Slacktone's bass player plays through a BF Showman through a 4x10 Ampeg bass cab and let me tell ya that thing rumbles with killer lows nice mids tight all around
