Permalink Surfer Girl Video. Not the Beach Boys cover :)

New Topic

Hey guys, long time since I have been here
I need to get back here more often

This is a tune by Chris Blackwell, not the Beach Boys
This is my arrangement of his tune

I have been messing around with a green screen background which is a bunch of fun.
Here's an instrumental tune I did with some nice surfer girls in the background.

This is the Jazz-O-Caster guitar I built a couple years ago with Mojo jazzmaster pickups.
The switch is set in the middle position which has a nice sweet tone.

Hi EL34, That is a great arrangement of "Surfer Girl" and the video is perfect except for the old dude standing in front of the girls. Big Grin Just kidding. I snagged the 120 BPM MP3 you posted sometime back and used it to tab out Surfer Girl for myself, as best I could. I included your track in some surf music collections I made for myself to listen to in the car, just so you know how much I enjoyed it. Rest assured I will be viewing this video repeatedly to tab out your new arrangement, and with the quality of the video and the clear shot of your fingering, you have done me a great service. (I'm sure my wife will understand why I'm watching this over and over again...)

I also see that the Jazz-O-Caster has evolved. It is a beauty and sounds wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

Enjoyed that alot; catchy & lovely punch with the guitar, sits great in the mix. Did you go direct on that or...?
Thumbs Up

That was my Kemper profiling amp
The profile is a

Mars amp SB 100
4x12 Mars cabinet
Celestion G12T-75 speakers
AKG414 mic off center axis
With EQ, Reverb Delay added in the Kemper

The signal chain goes like this
Guitar > Kemper > out as Stereo signal > into a Stereo Tube Pre amp
Crown Power amp into 6 way Pioneer speakers with 18 woofers

That's what the camera mic records but I record the signal coming out of the Stereo Tube pre amp and use that in the video.

Here's a pic of that rig

I love my Kemper.
I have a big pile of hand wired tube amps here, but I hardly play them any more because the Kemper does a zillion sounds.
There's over 10,000 user created profiles you can download and tweak however you want, which is what I do

I read the story of your Jazz-O-Caster build. That was some very interesting reading and contains a lot of great information that the DIY folks here at SG101 might want to check out. Visitors to your story will be rewarded with an updated MP3 download of Surfer Girl with your new Jazz-O-Caster version 2, thank you very much. I will also share that your site has a lot of great tube amp information which is not surprising as you are the owner of Hoffman Amplifiers. (I did not know that about you, but I'm slowly catching on. Maybe the username EL34 is some kind of tell.)

Great job all around!
