Friday,
First off Ran's ( Kick the Reverb) band The Sand Devils are going to be playing the Big Tiki Oasis 6 event in San Diego at Bali Hi on Shelter Island. Around 10 pm I believe.
Saturday,
Deadbolt is playing 2 shows in San Diego on Sat. one in the afternoon at a car show, and one at the Kensington Club on Adams blvd.
Sunday,
is the first big Surf Show at the Huntington Beach Pier with
Deep Sea, Flowmasters,The Breakaways, The Fabulous Planktones,
and the Surfaris. The Surf Kings were supposed to play, but Rico the drummer is having a tumor on his wrist operated on. So the Breakaways are taking thier place.

First off, I'm really looking forward to Tiki Oasis. I'm glad I have a chance to see the Sand Devils. Every other time they've played, I've already had plans, or something.
I will go to HB this Sunday. I will head out of SD early. Jeff, what's your plan?

All,
I've seen Ran's band the Sand Devils about 5 or 6 times.
I liked them alot before they were kinda similar to His old band the Astroglides from Israel. Very Heavy Intense surf( which I like alot)
But the last few times that they've played, they kinda brought the level down a tad, and play with more Dynamics( What an Improvement!!) These guys are really becoming a class act. Even with Great outfits( Yes I admit the look is a good thing) and stage movements. I think he they won over alot of new fans from the Tiki Crowd that might not have known about them, or seen them before.
I got a bit teary eyed when they were playing, as I realized it was a great moment for tiki and surf music to come together. Yeah I know it happnes in other cities/states/Countries. But at Tiki Oasis is big big time for them.
I didn't make it to Deadbolt on sat. night, would have been cool if they had played at the event. But I didn't feel like leaving drunk to go see them. But I do like them alot.
The Show at the Pier was alot of fun. Pretty much a trad fest.
But the sun did come out , and was great to see so many surf fans there. About 50 or more that I know of.

I caught Deadbolt at the dragstrip. The show was super fun, the crowd was just as entertainning as the band. The PA was crappy, so the vocals were very low. But for being a outside show, they still had great tone.
We woudl have went to the Ken Club, but my wife and I had a late night at the Slick Idiot show the night before. We are getting too old to be cool club cats.
