Permalink Satan's Pilgrims tabs

Anyone know where I can find Satan's Pilgrims tabs? All I've found is Que Honda. ........ Maybe that's all that's out there Evil

I don't know any sites for tabs that would have any Satan's Pilgrims, but I'd sure like to start a thread where we could give pointers to learning some SP songs - Info like chord progressions, etc. would be really great!

I'll chip in on the few SP songs I know.

Yeah, I'd like to learn Surf Lyre.

Any SP pointers would be awesome. ... I've only been playing a few months so I wouldn't have much to contribute at this point .. but I would certainly benefit from it! Smile

I wanted the tab for The Outsider ... which might sound pretty easy to play to anyone who's been playing awhile .. but it's one of my favorites .... Plymouth Rock would also be fun to play.

Hey guys, I really want to learn how to play The Godfather (Theme). I have looked everywhere online, but can't seem to find it anywhere. I would never ask anyone to tab it for me, but does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe I could try to learn it by ear? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

There are tons of tabs for the Godfather Love Theme online, granted none are for the Pilgrims version. You can use those tabs and modify to fit how the Pilgrims play it.

If there were a Pilgrims song book, it would have to be called The Canterbury Tabs.

It would be...

Count Tabula

But it would really be...

Tabsulutely Tabulous

Thanks for the advice, guys. I guess the only thing I will need help with is the chords at the very beginning, and very end of the song, since that will be SP specific.

I'll ask for you. What song(s) do you need the beginning and ending chords for?

Got a few SP tunes in my repertoire...LaCazuela, Casbah, Chi Chi. Works in progress include Dialation and Colors of Your Mind. SP tunes are pretty much straight ahead and are excellent tunes to work on your ear training IMO. Ditch the tabs and get yer ear into it.....you can do it.

2012-2013: FILTHY POLAROIDS

always wanted to learn chi chi, boss bsa....hell all of them great solid writing, just right, always liked to moto less is more keep it simple no wasted notes....one of my favorite bands ever hope i can play with these guys someday if they ever come to cincinnati, would love to buy them a beer and a shot....

Have you guys looked into Riffstation for PC? I'm not in any way associated with that company but they make a pretty good product for sorting those things out on your own. Load up a MP3 and it gives you the chord changes that are close enough to figure our the key and the intervals. You can easily take it from there. Scales and such. You can isolate the center channel and slow down the melody and all that. Do the deedeedelleedee.
Apple users have a similar app thing but I've never used it. Forget the name.
Anyways I got Green Chili down in two beers. Hah hah hah.

oldbaldguy, I have used Riffstation in the past, thanks for reminding me about it. spskins, are you a member of SP? If so, very cool... I want to learn SP's version of The Godfather (theme). I am an amateur guitarist, but have been practicing daily. Thanks for the replies, everybody!

I tabbed out The Godfather when we started covering it awhile back.

I don't know that I'll have the time to do it all nice and neat, but I can snap a couple of pics of my handwritten tabs if anyone would like them.

As far as the opening chords, I'll post them tomorrow.
I'd do it now, but I don't have a guitar around and don't remember them off the top of my head.

Is there at tab anywhere for surf lyre yet?

I`m tabbing it out since we want to cover it, but I´m stuck on this little part of the first verse. The two or three bars right before the tremolo picking starts.

Anyone know what he plays there?

if you don't find it by hear try to look if you could catch a vid of them ,last time i tabbed a song i played in first position open and when i have see a vid i realise they play it a the five position ,notes are same but not same feel and some parts i didn't arrive to catch clearly beguin to be easyer to understand du to the position
don't need to look what is played note by note and finger by finger ,just to open the mind cause at some place on the fretboard things are easyer to play and also sound different with some ringing notes added
also don't forget they are 3 guitars (+ bass)then some parts can be complicated to reproduce alone or sound thin without the 2 others or 3 others

I've learned two of my favorite SP songs by ear: Chestnut Trees and Bumblebees (with a Fulltone Octafuzz pedal) and Vampiro (I use my MXR Carbon Copy on this one). I can also play the bass part on The Ventures' Ginza Lights (I'll work on learning the guitar lead on the SP version).

There are so many outstanding SP songs and I'm having a blast learning them - next up for me is Super Stock and Black Boots & Bikes (Hondells cover).

Those chords at the start of Godfather are diminished chords. Always a distinctive sound. And even though it sounds like four chords as they move up the fretboard, it's really just the same four notes played in different configurations: E, A#, C#, G. For the first position finger D2, G3, B2, and high E3. I visualize it as the layout of a Les Paul's knobs.. Then you just slide that position up three half steps each time.
