This is a picture of the Curl Riders with Randy Nauert, bass player of The Challengers of the early to mid '60s. Last Wednesday we were the opening act before Randy, who gave a very interesting presentation about the history of surf guitar music. This took place at the Historic Cottage facility at San Clemente State Beach.

Paul,
Great show! We were there. Thanks for playing my wife's request for Pacifica. You covered all the essentials. Sound was pretty good considering the conditions at sunset.

tahitijack,
Thanks very much! We had a lot of fun and it was the first gig for our new bass player Thor (that's where the "Pin-thor" song came from). We were frankly pleasantly amazed that someone knew of Pacifica and were glad to play it for your wife!

There was a guy shooting video and still. He spent a lot of time with the dancers. Thor's fans? Craig and Paul?

Nice!
Paul, maybe you can put those in the "download" section.

Did you ask Randy why he doesn't come to the Surf Convention?

Jeff,
We didn't get to chat with him that much and, to the extent that we did, he was telling us some old surf stories.

The story continues. A story about the event with a huge picture of the band is on the front page of the San Clemente Sun Times this morning! It was a great event for all.

Thanks for posting the link. Despite the comment that a small crowd was there, the audience was about 100 to 120 scattered around the cottage and patio. Plus the campers that came and looked over the fence.

Can anybody explain to me, why the platinum record in the pictures to the article has the cover of "Electric Ladyland" by Jimi Hendrix in the lower left corner?

According to Randy Jimi gave it to him because he suggested he record All Along The Watchtower. Long story short Randy handled several artists including Dylan and Hendrix.
