Are there any decent surf guitars that you can get for a reasonable price?
—Gabe
Our beaches here get 3 foot tall waves, but it doesn't matter. You don't need to surf to play surf.

Squier guitars made this decade, specifically the vintage modified ones. Buy used. |

Yeah, the Squier Vintage Modified and Classic Vibe series are excellent. A lot of people talk about modding them, but I simply got a thorough setup for my VM Jag and it plays beautifully. |

Rondo Music has some decent Strat clones made by SX if you don't mine putting a little work into them. Scroll to the bottom and go backwards. http://www.rondomusic.com/electricguitar.html Last edited: Aug 14, 2017 07:24:41 |

I would say the new Danelectros, but they are over $600 in Canada with some of the newer models going over $1000 (not even gonna talk about the prces of the vintage ones...yikes). A used 90s Korean reissue can be a good deal if you keep you eyes open. Rev —Canadian Surf |

http://www.rondomusic.com/electricguitar.html I recently purchased an Agile Les Paul Jr-ish guitar and was pretty impressed with the quality for how low cost they are. The tuners and pups are quite acceptable and the set up was very cool. Much better than I was expecting. I have not tried the Tele like gits but if you're looking for cheap, this may be a reasonable and legitimate alternative. Classic Vibe Squires as stated above. I own two. mj

You should pull the trigger when you are able. With a VM Jag, we know how to set them up, we are able to get replacement parts if something needs replacing or upgrading, and they are actually a Jaguar. For me, the Jaguar was the second guitar I fell in love with. Mosrite being the first, but couldn't find or afford. Then the Jag came along, got the cheapest one possible. Learned how to play on it, learned how to setup, learned how to play a guitar in a band, and then got more! I've had 9-10. The Jag is a 24" scale length, not many options for that scale length. The 24" scale length is the beauty of the Jag. |

$255 w $55 for shipping. No whammy? No problem. Ya just swing em about like tarzan on a vine and you'll get some cool modulations. \ Da Vinci Flinglestein, The Syndicate of Surf on YouTube |

How hard is it to retrofit a Bigsby on a Dano? The Hodad has a Bigsby style tailpiece. |
