Nice job Victor!
1 and 4 were pretty obvious.
2 and 3 were tough for me, I thought the woody tone on 2 was a Jazzmaster, but now in hindsight listening to it, I hear the subtle spanky Strat tones in that one.

Enjoyed the contest and listening to the samples. For the record, my guesses were way off!

I just mixed up the JM and the Jag...a forgivable sin, I reckon. The Mosrite and Strat were the most obvious to me.

Mosrite was easy to detect as the only bridge position and it's got some definite bridge twang
Jag and Jazz are pretty similar in "both" positions for me and much more differ in single neck or bridge ones.
The surprise for me was how similar is the strat middle pickup sounds to "both" by Jag and Jazz

I didn't know how they sounded like (im new into surf rock) But I made a list of preference:
4: It sounded the brighter and punchier --> was the jaguar
2: Way better than n.1, not so punchier as n.4 --> was the strat
3: Found it really similar to n.2, but wider/fuller sound tending to a humbucker sound maybe. --> was the jazz
1: ughhh --> was the mosrite
I was looking exactly for this. Apparently a traditional Jaguar is the way to go! But I can imagine for some surf/punk music the jazzmaster is a really good choice and easier to switch pickups on the fly. I am still not decided. Of course, playing live the difference will not be noticeable by anybody more than me

Eijev,
Amazing how my preferences are the exact reverse order of yours.

Hello folks,
finally got my hands on the more or less standard guitars for surf.
Same procedure as last time You can guess which track was recorded with which guitar. Here's a picture and a short description:

From left to right: Fender - Jaguar Thin Skin (US); Fender - Jazzmaster (Japan); Fender - Stratocaster Am Std.; Mosrite - Mark I Reissue.
I've used the bridge PU on the Mosrite, Middle on the Strat and both PUs on the Jaguar and Jazzmaster. Recorded through a Gomez G-Spring into a Crate Powerblock, direct out into console/computer. Please excuse the sloppy playing and quality. If you find any mistakes, you are welcome to keep them.
More questions? Feel free to ask. Here's the link. Happy guessing
