Hey everyone,
I hung out with The Longboards yesterday afternoon after they arrived in town. Really cool guys. I was amazed at the lack of jet lag after the 24 hours of straight traveling they had just endured.

See ya'll at the Pier show tomorrow.
-Ted

Teddy boy brought the Longboards down to the HB pier for the big show yesterday. Unfortunetly they missed Eddie Bertrand's set. But I did Introduce them to him, and they gave him a cd and talked a bit and took pictures, also unfortunetly they are Leaving 2 days before Eddie's next Performance, Crying
oh well every fan can't see every show.

But I hung out with them while watching Slacktone and its so cool to see new surf fans be blown away and speechless by the Slacktone experiance.
Then we went to the Longboard pub (Ted said they needed to go there-because of the name) and we ate and had some beers.

Good times, I have heard the cd of these guys and its very very good.
I recommend getting out to see them, while they are here in So.Cal.

Thanks for bringing The Longboards out to Huntington Beach, Ted! It was terrific finally meeting them in person. They really, REALLY, enjoyed seeing Slacktone live.

SO! Let's all go to the Doll Hut Thursday and see these guys live! I've seen some of their video footage and they really rip it up.

OuterWave welcomes back Allan on bass after missing the last three gigs which were handled very competenly by Doug Forbes. Thanks Doug.

Allan just came back yesterday from a river trip somewhere. I spoke with him yesterday while he was waiting for his plane in Sacramento and he sounded ready to go. Get the tall bottles of Fat Tire chilled.

Just checked out the Longboards myspace, this will be a fun night.

Ferenc,
Here's the schedule for Sat:
Prior to the bands, Dusty's drum cirle will be playing (break out the patchouli)
8:30 Pyronauts
9:30 Longboards
10:30 Detonators
11:30 Slacktone

See y'all then. This show is going to ROCK!

Just spoke to Allan again, he might use one of Mac's Showmans for a bass amp tonight. For those who were not at the pier Tuesday afternoon. Mac brought 3 Showmans for the gig. Showmans and the acoustics at the Doll Hut should be a lethal combination.

Can't wait.
this is gonna be off the an amazing night.

Thanks for the folks that showed up and also for the folks that do not usually go to surf shows that were there. Although the numbers were still on the low end, the people really showed unbelievable appreciation to the music in more ways than one. The Longboards seemed to be pretty pleased with the turnout. Again, another fine evening of super surf at the Doll Hut and this was on a Thursday night.

I am pretty sure that BigTikiDude will have some sort of review later but the evening was great. Glasgow Tiki Shakers and Outerwave played the usual and stayed until the end of the show past midnight. 3 and a half hours of surf. And then BS'd with the Big Kahuna at the parking lot. Some added gems, Duff of the Torquays and his wife came over, so did Adrien of Chum. Tim Fitzpatrick of The original Lively Ones taking over the drums with OuterWave for Surf Rider. The big surprise of the evening. The Dynotones showed up and did a blistering short set. Very rare do this band make an appearance and this was a real treat.

The Longboards showed ferocious energy from the time the first beat was counted to the last note of their set at a little past midnight. The guitar player was soaking with sweat while the bass player patrolled every inch of the Doll Hut stage, stomping, jumping and still making great music.

The Doll Hut wanted me to have this show on a Friday but I am having Lasik surgery today, that means that I will be on Vicodin after the surgery and no beer. Can't enjoy a surf show on that, specially this one. For sure I will be ready for Dusty's birthday party tomorrow. Again, thanks to TikiTena and BigTikiDude for helping arrange this show and for the surf afficionados that came over and for your generosity. -Tony

Yet another stellar evening at the Doll Hut!

Yes, I only had 4 hours of sleep before work today, but it was worth it. The Tiki Shakers were great, especially when they played "Tally Ho." Outerwave played some of the Fender IV tunes again, which is always a treat. The Longboards were totally wild! I love the energy of their set.

I need a nap now if I plan on going to San Diego tonight.

The Longboards from Spain are still in town, and did an amazing set at the Surf Museum yesterday, then we BBQ'd and then I took them to LA to see the Ghastly Ones and a Burlesque show. then They met the band and talked in spanish with ease with Norm, and they got cds and had them signed, they were freaking out, needless to say. as the Ghastly Ones are their favorite modern surf band.

The Show last night at the Pike went really well, except for a few broken strings at the begining of the night.

they played 2 sets.
the owner of the place is the drummer for Social Distortion,
he seemed to really like the band and the music.
they got payed fairly, for a Wed nite.
and got free dinner and beer.

it was the Best sounding show, even better than the surf museum, which I liked alot.
