If I hadn't just got a gretsch, you'd be seein' a "Lookee what I got!" post under gear Twisted Evil http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280129134291&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RCRX_Pr4_PcY_BIN_IT&refitem=280129133980&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&usedrule1=CrossSell_LogicX&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget

I used to have a Marquee (white, w/ rosewood fretboard and shell guard). It was actually not a very good guitar, I thought. The tremolo had serious problems and would not stay in tune. The pickups were crap, too. And though it has the same body outline as my hero Hank Marvin's sixties personal model Burns (which goes for huge bucks today), I found the body kinda big and not as comfortable as a Strat. I ended up selling it after owning it for a couple of years.

Anyway, I'd say you're not missing much by not picking this up. Though it sure does look pretty in the photo....

I'm with Ivan on this - I bought two of those when they were cheap cheap two years ago for $150 each. Cool guitar for that money, but not for $350. The neck was pretty chunky as I recall, and the frets were huge, two minuses for me. They usually sell for about $250-$275 now. I played mine for a few months, then sold them both for a little profit.

Hmm... I heard that the trem and pickups were upgraded and believe this to be one of those. The first ones were definitely not great. As to "chunky neck and huge frets", you just described my dream girl! It's taken me forever to adjust to the vintage frets on my AVRIs Cool When I first got one, just sliding up three frets cleanly was like riding a bike over train tracks Shocked

Burns is a great company, run by people that really care about their product. I actually emailed them soon after I got my Marquee wondering about some of the tremolo problems and got an answer from one of the head guys, suggesting how to fix them (it worked - mostly). I'm not surprised that they would have tried to fix up some of the problems that plagued the early models.

However, I agree with Chris as far as the neck. I'm not a fan of big frets, but the bigger problems was the shape of the neck, which was too big for me. It also had a bit of a strange profile - maybe simply cause I'm used to Fenders.

Anyway....
