Permalink John Blair playing "Dark Eyes" for the Vintage Guitar Magazine

New Topic

I haven't seen any mention of this on SG101, but John was featured last week in a Facebook video by the Vintage Guitar magazine, playing Dark Eyes on his '59 Strat!! Go here: https://www.facebook.com/VintageGuitarmagazine/videos/vb.62475490923/10154584758810924/?type=2&theater

Here's what the text with the video says: "John Blair offers his take on a Russian folk tune called "Dark Eyes" (or "Black Eyes”). His '63 Stratocaster is running into a '65 Super Reverb and a '61 Fender Reverb Unit. "There's just a hint of delay with a Strymon El Capistan pedal," he said. Be sure to read our review of his books, "The Illustrated Discography of Hot Rod Music 1961-1965" and "The Illustrated Discography of Surf Music 1961-1965” in the July issue of Vintage Guitar magazine. Just love John's demeanor on this kind of stuff; which belies the monster seen on stage at SJSF. Thanks for sharing.

Bump worthy... I missed the original posting of this, but just backed into it as I was about to share the video. Shoulda known it was already here!

Embedding the video for ease, and to help connect some dots for those that also like to learn from paper too, here is a link to Standard notation + Tablature for the song that lives in the downloads/Tab section here courtesy of LADave65 w/ input from John himself.
