This show was very good, I got fried like a lobster
Tim (HB Kahuna) will be posting some vids.

all the bands were so good.
But Eddie Bertrand and the soundwaves were so cool to see do a whole set. He dedicated Bordertown to me, Laughing

New Band El Surfo with DougAppleton form Long Board Ranch,
Doug Forbes from Flowmaster and Boardwalkers on 8 string bass Drool
and Rick Payne on Guitar were really good. I could hear them while I was talking to the guys from Longboards from Spain.

and Slacktone just absolutely rippid it up, they were on Fire.
they are always so good, but many nothces above that for this performance,
almost as good as the time I saw them in SF with Pollo Del Mar and the Nebulas.

after the Amazing set by Slacktone, one of the guys from the Longboards
stood up and walked away jokingly with his hands up ion the air, and said " allright thats it, we;re going home"
I was dying laughing. as that is so funny of a thing to say.

Greetings Surf fans, I've just posted new photos from the 4th of July
preparty at the Huntington Beach Pier. Nine hours, six bands. Lots of
sun, sand, 3-5 foot faces and great SCENARY. The bands you can see
from the photos but it was a heady experience to really be there. Wish
you all could have been there. They really needed a larger crowd--I don't
think they got the word out too well.

Tiki Dude gave you a basic review of the day but you had to see the bands. One new band, El Surfo, was made up of Rich Payne from the
Marauders, Doug Appleton from Long Board Ranch and Doug Forbes from
the Flowmasters. For a trio, they really did a great job. (I heard that
they only had 3 practices!) The Relix, Note the name change, sounded
tighter and alot more professional that a year ago. Of course, Eddie
and the Showmen (AKA Sound Waves) with Jim Frias on sax, really tore
the place up. New band (at least for us), the RipTides, did a really
credible job of laying out the TRAD sound of the 60's. I'm really anxious
to hear more from this band. Outer Wave played a great set without much
space between songs. No wasted time there. It was nice to see the
dedications too. JR dedicated Twilight At Trestles to me as a push to
finish learning it so I can play it with them. I think Tiki Dude said it all
about Slacktone--They did it and had everyone jazzed.

Surf's Up, Rich

I hope to have some vid posted in a few days. I used a new HD camera though I shot in standard def. A bit of a learning curve on the cam. Some of the audio was great, some was a bit too loud. We will see what I can save in the editing process.

Thanks, Photog! Great pics as usual. Wish I could have been there.

We had to go before Outer Wave started (lots of gear to put away) But I really dug The Rip Tides. Very cool sound and really cool guys.

The stage was full of vintage Showman amps, it was beautiful.

Is that too much reverb?
