Dear fellow surf music addicts
On behalf of The Mentawais, I want to introduce my band in here, so here you go!
The Mentawais is an instrumental surf band from Bogor, West Java, Indonesia, formed in late of 2015 with personnel consisting of Andre Varian (drums), Bena Waketversa (bass), Muhammad Arifyandi (guitars), and Umar Bawahab (guitars). The name of Mentawais itself was inspired by renowned Mentawai Island as a paradise for surfers. The Mentawais’s music is strongly influenced by first wave era of surf music in 1960’s.
For the last one and half year, The Mentawais has focused to create the sounds of Indonesiana surf tunes within studio more than live performance. In the second quarter of 2017 The Mentawais made synergy along with two independent labels namely Hujan Records and Kick it Records, while the band have accomplished their EP album debut in tape cassette format, titled Surfin 'Java. Originally produced by The Mentawais ,this EP is full of pure kinetic joy, it’s fueled by a tension of thick drippy reverb guitar, a wet snare stroke beat gets bolstered with a wonderful bass line that gently lilt upwards, bringing back glorious era of surf music with the new tunes to the people!

Bump this thread with a good news 
2 weeks ago we officially launched our EP Surfin' Java on tape cassette format at Indonesia Record Store Day Festival, we got good news that 100 cassettes sold on the first day and last Sunday 50 cassettes sold at Bogor Record Store Day. This is surprising, to be honest we did not expect our EP to be sold out considering not many Indonesian people know about surf music and also we launched this album in tape cassette format in 2017.
