I might turn the Tone knob back a bit but frankly, to me, it sounds like an FRV-1.
The original version of the shootout vid by the way was a quiz, of sorts; and Kilian's recording of that FRV-1 fooled a bunch of people until he published the "answer sheet" version as to which was which (and of course it was very professionally recorded as well with heavy strings, etc. - lots of variables different than your situation). Also, Jag & JM pickups do drip a bit better (to my ear) than Strats.

Those are all great points. Thanks for helping me out guys. I guess it's functioning normal. I've rarely heard of Boss stuff having issues out of the box.

Hmmm odd that it doesnt seem to work right out of the box ..Boss is usually pretty good on QC ....I'd try returning it anyway if you cant get it to sound as you like ...just tell them it doesn't sound as advertised ...like a tank . Worst they can say is no
FWIW when I use my FRV1 I have the dwell and mix up high and the tone low ..gets plenty drippy . Turn that dwell way up ! As some one said , I find the pedal a bit shrill unless you turn down the tone knob.

kind of an old thread... has this issue been resolved?
The only bit I can add is back in 2012 I bought a used FRV-1 to go with my '73 Vibro Champ. Using the VM Jag I had just got, I plugged it in and it sounded just as I anticipated. We won't go into the whole tube/digital nuances, but it went from basic reverb to drippy surfy.
So in short, if it's not doing that, something may be wrong with the unit. Perhaps there in is your reason for return, it simply isn't working.
I hope it all works out for you.

I'm still playing the pedal and it doesn't really get much drip on the palm mutes at any setting. I get a little drip here and there but it doesn't jump out at you like in many of the videos I've watched, which seems odd to me. Maybe I should contact BOSS and see what they say.
