First video from the Obsidians! We recorded this at the beginning of March for "Shot in the Dark", a music video series showcasing Ottawa artist.

I've been trying to get a surf band going for the better part of a decade and it feels amazing to finally something concrete to show for it.

Do you have any different mixes for that song? The mix sounded a bit bass heavy on my desk-top speakers.

Sounds great, man. What's your bassist running for a rig? He gets a pretty convincing traditional bass tone out of that Bass VI.

Yeah, the mix is unfortunately pretty bass heavy. We also think they sampled the snare as well. We hope to get a multitrack audio mix to adjust some of the levels for audio exporting but we might not be allowed to share audio as per contract.

I'm actually not sure what bass amp was used. The video producers had a bass amp available. We messed around with the Bass VI when he got it and I think the trick is to just play it like a normal bass. If you can resist temptation to over use the extra strings, bar chord, and vibrato it does sound like a bass. I would say it's a little thin, but punchy.

Great music, great guitars, loads of intensity.

As said, more lead guitar in the mix, please.

Congrats for sticking with the idea of getting a surf band together.
There acan never be enough, good surf bands.
