While driving to work Tuesday morning, I heard our local classic rock station promoting their Beach-A-Go-Go party being held this Friday at the Seminole Hard Rock Cafe & Casino. They were expecting about 5,000 people for the event. The DJ's were calling Dick Dale's manager (as a joke) to see if DD would be willing to play. He was unavailable on such short notice. So I emailed their morning show's producer our website and offered our band instead. He e-mailed me back and offered us the gig. Welp, I didn't check with my bandmates as it turned out both our bass player and other guitarist are out of town and can't change their plans. So I had to turn the gig down. Dude-
Find some replacements. Gigs like that don't come along every day!

Looks like bad weather may stall the event. If that happens, hopefully we'll get dialed in for a new date. As for picking up replacements, other than Laramie Dean (whose really more surf punk) I don't know any other "surf" musicians in the area. Ironically, the genre is very underground here in South Florida - considering this is surf, sun & fun territory. All the bands are into Latin, Hip-Hop, Rock or Blues, or Turntablism. I'm envious when I read how many of you sit in on other bands gigs and "surf-jam" at events. When I play out with friends I have to brush up on the latest Green Day or Nickelback tunes to fit in.
