I thought I would start a thread about this historic event since Fady posted a bunch of videos that have surfaced. We've discussed this before here and there but I couldn't find a dedicated thread about it.

This took place on Saturday, October 25, 1986 at The Alpine Village in Torrance, CA (site of the 2016 SG101 convention!). Performing were:
The Belairs
Eddie & The Showmen
P.J. & The Galaxies
Dave Marks & The Marksman
Paul Johnson & The Packards
The Halibuts
Poster art was by Rick Griffin & Randy Tuten. This event was written up in Guitar Player magazine and was videotaped. VHS copies of the event were for sale but are long, long out of print. As I recall the videotape included performance footage as well as interviews, some of which were conducted by John Blair. Video snippets of the event are now on YouTube.
I was hoping people could add video clips, memories, lists of the band members who were there, etc. to this thread. If anyone wants to assemble a YouTube playlist (preferably in order) that would be fantastic.
It would also be amazing if Paul Johnson, Halibut Rick, or John Blair could chime in with recollections.

I'm glad Brian did this!
This event was 30(!) years ago. And it's kind of the re-birth of surf music. If you watch the interview portion, everybody that was anybody at the time was involved. As a historical document, it's quite great!

When Paul Johnson was at the Surfer Joe Summer Festival 2014
he had many posters for sale but the price of 50€ was too
much for me so I didn´t buy one.
If you are interested in buying one please contact PJ.

Alpine Village is where all the ex-nazis went after they got bored with Argentina. IfThose of you who were there back in the 70's you know what I mean.

Still scratching my head as to how I completely missed this back in the day. I went to a lot of shows there (Surf Punks, Wall of Voodoo, and many more) and my band was playing regular gigs all over the South Bay . I guess nobody stapled flyers to any of the telephone poles down here in San Pedro (standard pre-internet form of event promotion) .

Even with modern internet promo,
Shows still go by under the radar.
I see posts or get messages all the time
About people missing pier shows or the convention.
Surf is one of those things you have to look for it.

Upon watching the videos closer, I have noticed that this is in the smaller Clubhouse behind the Stienhouse.
I'm glad that we were able to use the Big Room.
