I've stumbled on this band and want to say I'd maybe seen a reference to them and The Exotic Sounds of "Jungle Surfers", their latest album, here at some point (???). Initial search on the site isn't giving me much, so who knows, maybe I'm making that part up.
Anyhow, this 2014 SG101 News Article isn't what I was thinking of, but it did turn up in my site search so I had to create a proper thread for it. Seems this was written at a time before News articles auto-generated corresponding threads.
I'm really digging what I'm hearing - definitely not pure surf, not pure latin, not pure anything other than maybe purely infectious for some (many?). Now, I am in the minority here on this bit, but have mentioned an affinity for 70's Reggae & Dub in a few occasions before... these guys kill it on Rockers Rock, an Augustus Pablo cover. SWEEET!
Oh, and back to the SESC Brasil... what a phenomenal broadcaster - the same guys who've brought us arguably thee best footage of Los Twang! Marvels, and some amazing Bambi Molesters coverage have captured a pretty groovin' set of The Gasolines that deserves some more eyeballs and ear holes, so I'm reposting the video from that mothballed News Article here in the forums to do just that.
Dig it!
