Really, so two sided tape with a layer of electrical tape won't cut it?
Our biggest electrical shop doesn't carry heat sink tape.

I assume it'll melt the plastic of the electrical tape. Them fets get warm on their own.

Heatsink tape is mostly used in computers. Find a place that sells computer parts for kids who build their own gaming computer. They have to deal with a lot of heat from processors, graphic cards and memory banks. The tape is usually grey and you only need the thinnest variety to ensure proper cooling and insulation.

Yes, thats right.
You can find the same tape on Ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/0-2mm-Thick-25M-Roll-LED-HeatSink-Double-Sided-Adhesive-Thermal-Transfer-Tape-/252440286967?var=&hash=item3ac69d16f7

I had a complete mind dump when I was putting mine together.......I took off the entire tape all together. Luckily, the mosfets would be mounted facing the tray of my toolbox so i knew it would be a great heatsink.....only thing I had to do was figure out how to insulate them from grounding out on the tray. Then it came to me,I have some insulating "Kapton" tape I use for building megnetic coils, put down a single layer of that stuff and voila! Worked like a charm! That tape can withstand some severe heat too. It's about 20 to 30 bucks for a roll of it,but it'll last forever for how much you need to use each time.

If you want the ultimate, you gotta be willing to pay the ultimate price.

Brett

One side down one to go. Channel 1 tested fine. Hopefully Channel 2 solders together faster.

My Surfy Bear FET kit showed up today! I am so excited to get it built!

The Reverbivores - we're local favorites!

I got my Surfy Bear Fet Reverb kit the other day. Both of my old accutronics tanks were dead. Fortunately I did have a MOD tank laying around. This thing sounds fantastic! Can't wait to push it tonight at practice!

Awesome product, Björn!!!

I dig my new horizontal MOD!

Awesome build!
Very cool to see it after looking back at your very first post that started this thread. Neat evolution.

Thanks! I love two tanks into two amps!

Any if you guys chop these little tabs off? It's making my pots sit crooked.....wondering if it serves an important purpose....if not I shall chopem!

You can snap it off with needle nose pliers, then insert it in the pot shaft's slot (it's a press-fit) to prevent it from collapsing when tightening the knob's setscrew. Works great!

I just got an aborted project Surfy Bear from over on OSG. Its basically the PCB kit with the addition of a tank and a pedal enclosure.

Once I figure out whether I'm going to make this a pedal and house the tank somewhere else or use that old suitcase I posted a few pages back I'll start adding pictures as I build

For the above pot pic, if you have access to an washers, you can use the appropriate size as a spacer. Then if you ever desire to use the tab, it will still be there. When this started, did anyone ever think it would grow to this many pages with so many people involved? Smile

I did. Big Grin Another prediction: You ain't seen nothing yet!

Thank you so much Bjorn for sending me the new board, after I killed the last one. You're a mensch, and a pleasure to work with. Cheers

Now I have installed both R3 and R5 in that big enclosure, and daydreaming about switching schemes... they're haunting me. The back can accept 4 PL's and yet another switch if necessary... so it will probably be:
Full Stereo if both inputs/outputs are used, or A/B if on one channel.
It will look neater once the wires are shortened to measure and routed properly, and I'm currently waiting for some parts. I'll mount two LED's inside those jewels, using rubber spacers to hold them in place.
Sticker is just laser printed and lacquered. I like using the "bottom" plate as the top part, as it helps installing everything comfortably, especially with lots of components, and allows space for constant tinkering and probing, as I do.

So many possibilities... This FET invention has enabled us all those amazing creations, this project is so much FUN!

Wow... Impressive build! I like the printed faceplate too. Must be a challenge to get all the wires back in there. Smile

Nice Ariel!
What do the 4-position knob and switch do? My guess switch turns on the knob which is a 4-position reverb color selector?
Thanks,
Ran

The Scimitars

Well, crap. Here we go again. I wait a week and more stuff shows up. Now I'm probably going to have to have a laser cut legend plate and have it coated with unobtanium! Smile Looks great Ariel!

Wow!!! Nice build!
