Covering artists such as Dick Dale, The Ventures, The Surfaris etc....Pretty much the old school style. I play rhythm only. I'm in my late 40's and have a lot of experience with this genre.

Thanks!

Hey Galax,
Wished I lived out there! Big Grin It seems to me that you shouldn't have any trouble In SoCal.

This may be a very long shot. Our lead guitar is looking to relocate to the high desert within the next few months. We rehearse in San Clemente on Sundays a couple times a month and play a gig in South OC every six weeks or so. If this makes since let me know, if not good luck.

Happy Sunsets!

Hey tahitijack! Sorry for the late reply. I need to find out where my notifications are going. Are you guys looking for a rhythm? Still looking for a band in the IE.

Thanks

Galaxyflyer1,
We are looking for a lead guitar player. We have rhythm, bass and drums.

Happy Sunsets!

Just sent you a private message...

Greg, your pm didn't make it to me. I sent you a pm with my email address. Hope it gets to you.

Happy Sunsets!

Tahitijack - I'm new to this forum and am feeing my way around. Didn't see an email address from you. Wondering if you still want to play rhythm in a surf band. I'm in Highland CA.

You can't go wrong with Bobby. Although he carries non traditional gear, he gets the job done very well. I have known him for at least 20 years.

Thanks Joey! Ya still always up to being that rhythm guy and helping out with vocals if needed. If something promising comes along, I wouldn't mind investing in a traditional amp.
Bob

Bobby, tone is in the ear of the beholder. Usually the player can get the tone out of most amps that will be acceptable; sure, not 100% on, but close enough, so, don't take my remarks wrong, keep the gear you enjoy.

I have several big gigs coming up and I just may take Dick's advice to stop being lazy and just blast out with 3 men.

You are still on top of my list (I have about ten prospects) and if I take the route I have always used, having a rhythm player, you just may be getting a call.

I received an interesting call yesterday, but, I think he is committed to another band, so, I don't want to be responsible for breaking up someones band.

Thanks for that Joey. That's great you have that many prospects. Take your time (if you can) and choose wisely. I'm in no big hurry and haven't been in a band for about 4 years now. Just invite me over one night for rehearsal and see if I can get on the top 5 list. Remember that I am only available Fr-Sun. Perhaps that is already an issue?

As far as equipment goes, it's more of affordability. I haven't been in a serious surf/instrumental band since the 90's and can't see investing if it's just gonna sit. (I was borrowing a Twin at the time).

From time to time I see instrumental bands without a rhythm player. There is a "hole" in the sound. I guess having one less band member to deal with makes scheduling a little easier Smile

Without a doubt, there is a hole in the sound with just 3 players. But then, I am old school, so maybe that is the reason I hear it that way. Whatever, I am going for the 5 piece band

Today I finally had the time to sift through the responses to my ad and I have the list down to ten that are real good prospects. If your work schedule was different I would put you near the top because I know you could help me pull the gig off easily. You would really did the gigs.

I am focusing on three right now and just sent them out a phone message. Let me see what happens.

Joey, I sent you an email via a Yahoo address that I had from you from way back. Not sure if it is good. My email is galaxyflyer1@yahoo.com in case you did not receive it.
