What the heck, a new year is coming - worth a shot.
I had a "60s" band locally where we did some Surf/Instro stuff as well as other pop tunes from the 60s.
Looking to do an Instrumental band playing 60s TV theme songs, movie themes, surf/instro tunes, etc.
Also maybe do other pop tunes as instrumentals in the mold of the other instro bands (Ventures, Shadows, etc.)
Really need a good 2nd guitarist or Keys, or preferably someone who can do both (I play keys as well). Bass and Drums are easy to find.
Happy New Year!

Yeah, 3 hours from NOVA a little too far for me as well.
Good luck in your search Steve. Hope it works out!

I know. I've driven down to Rodanthe and Buxton for gigs in the olden days, but far more to Kitty Hawk/KDH which I can actually make it to in an hour and a half.
I understand that Kellys is now closed. I hope whoever takes it over still has bands there (if they keep it a restaurant/club). That and Port O Call used to be the two biggest rooms we play.
I'm hoping to catch you playing some time when we're down on vacation - though we tend to stay north in Duck more frequently these days.

You mean 7 hours
Every time we drive up (to Maryland actually) once we get north of 295 around Richmond on 95 it all goes to heck.
Took us 6 hours travel time up and back over the holidays this year (plus hour break for lunch). Fredericksburg, and Stafford are just insane.

Ha! You have a point there for sure!
17 is a good alternate option for that sometimes, but that only gets you to Fredericksburg, right at the heart of the action.
I know, traffic sucks up here!!

i live in buxton, a long way from everywhere. i read kelly's is still going to be open next summer and is booking bands. but if the sale goes through it's probably going to be torn down to build a grocery store. i don't hear much about the port-o-call (known as the port-a-potty here) anymore, but i'm sure they still do music. southern culture on the skids used to play there quite a bit but now they play in avon instead (better venue, better crowd)
