Permalink I posted a Mermen video as a tribute to Tom the Nurse who passed away recently.....

Hello folks.....just to reiterate I have been a diehard Mermen fan since 1996 when I stumbled into their set out at Burning Man. I was a part of that scene until I moved to Lakewood Ohio 3+ years ago.....Tom the Nurse was also a part of that scene and a great friend to everyone. Tom passed away a week ago so I have decided to post this video as a tribute to our dear friend. This song is not a traditional 3 minute surf song......it is a huge 14 minute epic improvisation (traditional surf fans beware.) I would go as far as to say that this is psychedelic surf meets modern guitar jazz improvisation because it just goes on forever and composes itself in the process. A great video for a Sunday morning....check out the guitar work and listen closely to how the song develops with peaks and canyons. I am very proud of this video and I hope that some of you can enjoy the epic proportions of the sonic landscape created by these guys. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zefz3rgLIR0

ALWAYS HAPPY to hear Mermen! Thanks!

Awesome! Thanks for sharing, Ken! RIP, Tom.

I'm doing a new collection of surf classics by The Mermen just for the hell of it.....here is Casbah from 1998 at The Edge in Palo Alto. I will post more as I finish them, and I promise they will look and sound amazing.

My deepest condolences for your friend.
The Mermen are gods among men. They will be cranked at my wake!

Salud!

Thanks for sharing this, Ken. This was my first Mermen show. I've been more than a little off, ever since.

Finally found the original.....thanks to a fellow Mermen fan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iwg4NjwMYVY&feature=youtu.be

Here is the second installment of Mermen doing surf classics from the 1960's Quiet Surf from the same Edge gig in Palo Alto 1998. I will also post the original tune from Richie Allen and the Pacific Surfers. https://youtu.be/H2fA6MPKN6s
