Basically an Echoplex (EP-3) preamp in a compact pedal form. I've heard it referred to as "a vitamin shot for your tone". Perfect for driving the input of amps with tons of clean headroom... add warmth and a subtle edge to your tone even at lower volumes. I am the original owner and pedal has never left my home studio (still in like new condition). $90 + shipping.

It might help to know if this is a v1 or v2.
As of July 2011, beginning from serial number 11012, we've updated the EP Booster with an internal dip switch where users can choose to have true unity gain with the knob turned all the way off.
For the record: the v2 set to unit gain and not dialed in above 10 o'clock brings out the true magic of this pedal. In case you didn't know.
Every time I see this pedal being sold I wonder if the seller tried this setting.

What Kilian said +1000. (My choice also for 1st pedal on a mini-board if I was bouncing around.)
Buy Murph's pedal!
They even fit in a Christmas stocking. Ho-ho-ho!

Hey guys, thanks for the helpful comments! I'm 99.9% sure it's V2 but will double-check this evening. I am also going to try as Kilian suggests and see (well, hear) what happens.
This pedal sounded amazing through the Bandmaster I just sold. When I put it in front of the Texotica, it just seemed to get in the way. But I don't recall the internal dip-switch settings and I'm sure I had the dial set to 2:00 or so.
I'll post an update later tonight!

Just a quick follow-up...
The EP Booster is definitely V2 (serial #59392). This model has two dip switches to control gain and brightness. I had mine set for "vintage settings" which is unity gain (as opposed to +3db) and the bright switch off. Note to potential buyers, Xotic included a very nice diagram and description of the switches and their settings... see what works best for your application!
Kilian and Wes are right about this pedal though... it's definitely a case of "less is more". Again, it totally enhanced the tone of my Bandmaster, especially at lower volume levels. I have wrestled with keeping it, but currently GASing for another piece of gear, so it remains available for purchase.

Here is a link to the official Xotic website's manual for the version of the EP Booster that Murph is selling and this provides more info about the 2 'on/off' dip switches for 3dB boost and bright:

Here is the general product page on Xotic's official website:

I happen to use the v1 of the EP Booster simply because I purchased it a at time that pre-dates the v2. Sadly, most venues require that I run my 35w Fender Vibrolux at lower volumes that things don't start getting cooking at that volume. The EP Booster hits the front end of the amp in a very nice way to create more fullness in the sound. At higher boost volumes, it will drive the input of a tube amp.
A simple, one-knobber that fits well on a pedalboard and it can be run 9v~18v. I have used other boosters like the TC Mini Spark and a Klon clone but the EP keeps coming back and the others are removed (and sometimes sold).

Lorne, you are definitely getting some great sounds from your rig! The album cover alone had me looking for the "buy-it-now" button.
I may regret it, but the Xotic EP Booster is off to a new home as of today. I had a heckuva time finding a used one when I was in the market, so ended up paying full retail from The Guitar Ranch in Texas (through Amazon). I was able to play though Mike's (bandmate in El Mirage) before buying, so I knew what to expect, especially through the Bandmaster. It really is a marvel of a pedal.
For now though, the 15-watt Texotica Saratoga has tone for days (even at low volumes in my beat laboratory) so I'm planning to use the proceeds to add a little more variety to the tone source.
