Your comment makes me wonder if they have hung up the surf guitars as a band? Damn sure hope not! If The Volcanos have a keen interest in playing the convention, and lack of drummer is the only thing stopping them, I might be able to lend a hand. Up to a year or two ago they were doing some car show gigs in the Detroit area. I believe one of the shows was a biggie - the Detroit Autorama. One of the Volcanos guitarists, Rick Mills, used to post occasionally on SG101 but I haven't seen him on here in quite a while. According to the SG101 band database they formed in 1994 and the SurfQuake album was released in 1996. They have a Facebook site but the last post was in February 2015. I've been fortunate to seem them 5 or 6 times over the years. They played out recently with a great young kid on drums in June of 2014 at the Madeira's release party for "Sonic Cataclysm" (and before that in December '13 in Indianapolis as well). I have since heard that drummer is no longer available. The band also has enough songs for another full length release, and at one time they were thinking about trying to get that recorded and released so they could play at a SG101 convention. Sadly I don't think that is going to happen for a while. In any event, yes you simply must own everything they've created: a slew of 45s and 2 full lengths, Surf Quake and Finish Line Fever... true masterpieces of the 90's revival era.
