Thumbs Up

Jeff(bigtikidude)

i really like 'swingy creepy'. i'm using it in my halloween radio show.

Way cool! Excellent recording and playing!

Squink Out!

Thanks Carol and JObeast !

We have received the lathe cut vinyls for this release, they are really cool !

This is a limited edition (50 copies) of 7" picture disc lathe cut records, hand made in Tucson, Arizona, by Precarian Cuts.

If you don't know what is a lathe cut record (I had no clue before our bass player suggested this !), this is basically between a vinyl record and a collectible piece of art. Each record is hand carved on plexiglass and cut on a custom lathe (in real time, that's why it's a long process and they offer limited runs). Like a finger print no two records are a like. Sound is mono, and there is an amount of surface noise (similar to that of an old, dirty record) so that sound quality is pretty lo-fi. You might like it or not, I personally think the lo-fi sound is spot on for these creepy Halloween songs ! And this is a unique object Cool

These records will last as long as a pressed record and are absolutely safe for turntable needles. More informations on lathe cut records are here : www.precariancuts.com

They are available for order on Bandcamp, that of course includes a download code for hi-fi digital versions of the songs : https://blackballbandits.bandcamp.com/album/spooky-tales-and-scary-noises

Here are some pictures of the record !

I forgot to mention that they'll be available at our next show too, on Friday October 28 at the Bootleggers Brewery in Fullerton (with the Volcanics, The Old Worries, DJ Big Tiki Dude and DJ Dotty). A nice Halloween treat if you have the opportunity to join us for this fun night !

Cool! I'm a big fan of having a real cd,
Over just having just the file in my computer.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Yeah same here Jeff !
Here is a short video clip showing how it looks/sounds on a turntable Smile

Oh it's a flex-disc

Jeff(bigtikidude)

It is actually not flexible, this is cut in plexiglass Smile

Again, I insist on the fact that this is LO-FI (see my description above) ! It's more of a fun object to go with the digital release than a good quality record. We chose this option cause unlike vinyl you can order small quantities, and this looks nice and fun for a Halloween release. The best is to pick them at the show next week at a good price ! (no shipping, taxes, etc ...)
