I just got a bunch of great CD's from Deep Eddy's blow-out sale:
Atlantics "Collectables";
3 Balls of Fire "Best of the Balls" (remastered version with bonus cuts- I have a copy of the original, as well);
Razorblades "New Songs for Weird People";
Reefriders "Dawl Patrol;
Rondo Hatton "S/T", and
Rondo Hatton "Destination.... Fun!".
Great stuff.

Going to a wedding for a family friend that happens to be marrying a record store owner. He was telling me that they had gotten a surprising amount of surf in when I saw him a month ago. Sure enough, I grabbed all of these. Also left Surf Beat '80 and Phantom Surfers - Great Surf Crash (already had them)
Not bad for Northern Mississippi!

Haven't posted but here's what I've gotten in the last couple months:
The Fathoms-Fathom This
Los Straightjackets-Utterly Fantastic...
Kilaueas- Mundaka Calls
Los Twang Marvels- Guitars In Orbit
Enjoyed it all, especially the Fathoms.
Today I just bought Los Twang Marvels Jungle of Twang and Messer Chups Church of Reverb, so I haven't gotten to listen to those yet.

My bassist Jim just dropped off a copy of Gnarley Wave Volume One. I know the concept of the album was not very popular with some SG101'ers, but I have to admit in the end there are some goods songs on this cd. Especially the SpyTones tune and Nolan Voide's "Surfing in Jamaica". My current band, Agent Octopus has a song on it too, "Chaparral", but in all honesty Jim did all the arrangements and guitar playing on this one. (I joined the band later)

Just received and finished watching Reverb Junkies. Wow! Very well done. Made me want to grab my guitar the whole time. Really enjoyable.
I finished Satan's Pilgrims' Plymouth Rock, first album of theirs, and was fairly blown away.
Listened to Messer Chups Crazy Price,and while it's probably my least favorite offering from them, it is engaging and interesting. I just didn't realize it was so un-surfy at times. Perhaps it'll grow on me. Not Made in Japan and Satan Jeans are for sure the highlights of the album for me.
Listening to The Volcanos Finish Line Fever right now. Great so far!

My wife got me some cds for my birthday; Madeira Sandstorm(she didn't know I had it already) Les Agamemnonz de A a Z, great record and also BitchBoys Ride the First Wave. Some fine playing on the BitchBoys album, gotta get some of their original material.
Gifted myself downloads of Messer Chups Spooky Hook and loved it, even the songs with lyrics.
Also got The Bradipos IV Instromania, first but won't be my last album by them. 10 tracks in and I'm loving it!

I found this on vinyl- only one available in any format at Discogs. On it's way from Duetschland.

Also, the album art alone made this one simply irresistible!

FYI: This is not surf so I guess I should be whipped with a 60 gauge E string for posting it in this thread. That'll leave a mark.
Still interesting how 'rock' is interpreted in the middle east.

I love it so far. Most of the songs have vocals, but there are a few cool instrumentals, and they all have pretty interesting guitar tones. It's a great variety of styles-there are a few pre-surf/surf influenced tunes, a few that have an afro-cuban or Latin influence, a few that have that pure African "afro-pop" guitar style, and one or two sort of rockabilly/early rock and roll songs, which is interesting. More than a few of the songs have steel guitar along with the electrics and there is one song that to me, is worth having the record for. I can't even really describe it, but it is an instrumental from Mozambique that is really cool.

I haven't posted here in a long time. Haven't been in a really good record store since before I moved. Today I got these.
About the Pittsburgh Symphony records, this is the set they released for their 1964 World Tour. According to the liner notes, the State Department spent one-fourth of its annual expenditures on the 20,000 mile, 14 country, 50 appearance tour. I have a lot of memorabilia from the tour that Mom and Dad collected, but I've never even heard these recordings. Finding them means a lot to me.
