Hello surfers
I've just finished some new demo material. It's kind of latin laid back surf-something. Called Granada.
https://soundcloud.com/daniel-hc/esperanza
Everything recorded in my home studio.
Jaguar, Spanish guitar, djembe, shaker, reverb and voice used.
What do you think? Do you dig it? Why/why not?
Feedback wanted
Surf's up

What's wrong with Esperanza? Isn't it just a female name?

I think I'd come with a different title considering that's already a Dick Dale song; Dick Dale - Esperanza

I figured it was something like that. Still, even I didn't know it. Tribal Thunder is not an album I spent a lot of time with. It's good to let people know if they unwittingly use something, but maybe in a nicer way.
Back on topic... Daniel very nice job with the melody, dark and dramatic and good changes. However, the 'island' feel doesn't work for me. I hear this way more heavy, think about how The Madeira would approach something like this. $.02...

Hi DanielHC,
I listen to your song the second time. I like it.
My thoughts about: Maybe the lead guitar is a bit too loud for the whole mix? Why not call it "Esperanza"? Yes, theres another song called Esperanza but I would not care...
I like the tempo and the whole mood of the song a lot!
The melody in the beginning and the end is not sooo catchy for my ears but on the other side I like good melodies with less notes! And I thought it would be nicer with a cleaner thicker guitar sound?
The middle part beginning at 0:52 is great! Also here for me it would be nicer with a thicker and cleaner sound with full splashy reverb.
The vocal part: Oh! I don t know... Do the song need this? For me it sounds like a kind of bad "folk" music... (maybe better use a sexy female moaning voice for this? ) I guess the song would work without vocals!
The arrangement is good, drama, suspense, good.
All in all good work! In the name of surf!
...my 2 cents.
...ah, and it reminds me a bit to the first 2 Langhorns albums. Check them out! They also have uniiiique slow songs!!!

Thanks for taking the time to coment on my track. It is now called "Granada". Mistake calling it Esperanza - I know the track by Dick Dale.
I appreciate your feedback very much!
Thanks.

Cool song. I really liked to tone of the electric guitar. Overall, the production value seems excellent.
Here's my feedback...
I'd actually bring the electric up and feature it more. Or you could drop the acoustic a little.
The acoustic works especially without a bass. Personally, it's still a little bottom heavy for me. I'd do a low-shelf around 200Hz-ish. Nothing much, just a little. But, that's just me...
I would drop the voices a little too, and maybe add some verb to give them less direct sense.
Overall, I think it's a really cool song. When I listen to it, I get the sense of loneliness, and not in a bad way. But, like in an exotic beach with no one else around to ruin it. Or, the lone cowboy riding through the desert. I guess my notes are centered around making the guitar the main feature, while the other elements support it, but stay just a little more in the background.

Very cool man, it's nice to hear a surf song with a djembe, it works great. Very nice sound overall !
Just an idea about the structure, I like the chorus with the backing vocals, and I feel like I'd like to hear it more. Maybe you could insert it a first time at 50', only half of it, kinda to announce it before you play it twice the 2nd time ?
