I just saw this on Facebook. Quite different than Premiere Guitar's usual rig rundown.

Wow. Now I want a Deluxe Reverb.

Interesting. When we opened for LSJ at the Pinned Miami show we both played the same backline - evil twins w/ the red knobs. Eddie asked me how the amps played and I answered truthfully... horrible. He then pulled a non-descript pedal out of his pocket and said, "This little guy will make it all sound better." And it sure did.

Deluxe Reverbs? That was new to me....
I've seen them, probably 12-15 times, going back to the 90's, and they've always played Vibrolux Reverbs. (And the venues have been small enough to see their amps up close.) I'm guessing the VRs must be a part of their West Coast back line.

Cheers, Clark

And the other times I've seen LSJ in South Florida they had 65 Twins, no tanks, no pedals.

I think blackface Fender RIs of the Twin and Dlx Rvb are among the highest demand and supply for backline amp rentals. Just a cheaper way to roll for dates where shipping their own amps is less practical/cost-effective.
A bold clean tone of the Twins and the edge of breakup tone of the DR are all within the range of what they would use easily. The Vibrolux Rvbs - as they used when they did their cross-border gig here in North Vancouver recently - fall into that midway point between Twins and DRs.

Re: Reverb tanks...I have read interviews that LSJ never called themselves 'Surf' although Daddy-O Grande/Danny Amis seems to be the one whose appreciation and style is closer to surf instro. Headstock tuners, direct guitar-to-blackface amp w/onboard reverb tank and tremolo are all in keeping with simple=best.

BTW, I recommend the latest Daddy-O Grande/Danny Amis & Twin Tones recording "Super Spy Western Tones". Fantastic!

YES! I recently scored this CD and it is top-notch all around. Great writing/playing, high production value, and "tones" for days. Viva la Daddy-O Grande and Twin Tones!
