New Topic

On this week's Catching A Wave, we spin the wheel for random Beach Boys covers by Roy Orbison, Fleetwood Mac, Ramones, Matthew Sweet & Susanna Hoffs and The Everly Brothers. We also hear Dean Torrence talk about The Who covering Jan & Dean plus we spin tunes from Annette Funicello, The Beach Boys, The Surfaris, The Chantays, Dick Dale, Brian Wilson, Brian Setzer, Stevie Wonder, Willie Nelson (covering "Blue Hawaii") and more!! http://catchingawaveradio.blogspot.com/2016/09/catching-wave-09-12-16-wheel-of-fun-fun.html

Which day and what time will the show be broadcasted??
In Germany I learned a lot anout Rock and Roll and surf music by listening to Jim Pewter´s oldies show on AFN in the early seventies...
Later on in 1978 I had a chance to meet Jim personally in Hollywood in his house.
Radio shows have such a big influence on listeners!

I did an interview with Dean many years ago....he was probably the age I am now. Such a nice fellow. Jan was an amazing guy, but from what I've read was quite difficult to be around all through his life. Jan & Dean led me to an appreciation of surf music. I wish he'd come play in Canada again, but somehow I don't think that's going to happen.
