I think they'll have to do another run, the "secondary market" should be pretty dry. This one looks like a real keeper Thumbs Up

People are already asking me about the secondary market for these. I can only hope Eastwood produce another run some time in the future.

Just a hunch since it's currently orderable from the "Coming Soon..." section of their website. I'd hope they fulfill initial deposits first of course, but I doubt they're short-sighted enough to only have a run of 1 per pre-order.

I'm also in on this first run and can't wait for its arrival. I suspect it'll become an open item on their Eastwood website similar to what they did with the Backlund 100. So if you missed the first run, just order it afterwards. FWIW, the fit and finish of the Backlund is outstanding. My luthier knows John Backlund and is familiar with his custom work. He was very complimentary of the job Eastwood did on his model. It did need a setup, badly. Once setup, it plays really well. I'm expecting the same experience with Jeff's model and really looking forward to getting it. I think Eastwood is onto something with their approach to bringing hi-end custom guitars into the popular price market. Ed Elliott, are you listening?? Big Grin

CUTBACK

Just to say that I saw the awesome Crazy Aces band at the SG101 fest, and both Jeff and Kiwamu (sp?) were sawing and boinging and whammying their tremolo bars to their heart's content...without having to constantly check their tuning. So,anybody ordering a guitar is in for a nice surprise on owning a guitfiddle with an AWESOME trem set-up !!! Hoot !

Found the notice this morning that they'll be shipping in about a week or so. How time flies.
Cool

Bagged mine today - see it on my doorstep around Tuesday I would guess.

Just to be clear: Kiwamu and I were playing handbuilt versions created in my shop and these have a different vibrato system than the Eastwood.

I did however, just take a stock Eastwood on the road this past weekend for two shows in Canada. Airlines, bumpy back roads of Alberta, 100 degree stages, dust and general road wear and tear and the instrument worked great, held tuning and was fun. I'll be posting video of this "road test" in the next few days.

Thanks again to everyone for your support! It means a lot to Chris and I and of course Eastwood.
The wait was almost easier when it was months but now that we're down to weeks or even days....arghh!!!! LOL

Looking forward to the video (not to mention the knock from UPS). Cool

Pretty straight-forward as to setup Jeff, in terms of clearance mid-neck & string height etc.?

The Eastwood I took out on the road this past weekend was pretty easy and quick to set up. I did no "mods", replaced nothing.
This set-up may not work for everyone's touch but here's what I did.

I adjusted the neck to be as straight as possible, almost no relief.

Adjusted the action of the bridge to a pretty low 3/64's on the high E side and 4/64's on the low E side, distance measured from the bottom of the string to the top of the 12th fret.

I also "flossed" the nut slots with an old set of .011 -.049 strings. I use XL 110's .010 -.046 and this flossing with one gauge up usually does a nice job of cleaning the nut slots just enough to prevent catching when using the vibrato and also provides smoother tuning.

I loosened the vibrato spring tension screw about 3/4 of a turn to lighten the feel of the vibrato. I also "custom" bent the vibrato arm in rubber lined vise so that it was roughly 2" off the pick guard, putting it in a more ergonomic holding and grabbing position.

All in all about 15 minutes of set up.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
Jeff

Seriously, congrats Ivan. I have to admit the Foam Green version looks better in the flesh vs. the early photo-shopped projection. One of my favorite colors. Enjoy!

They started shipping this week!

Here's a recent road test I did with the guitar the weekend after the SG 101 Convention.

Thanks Jeff:
Great vid and assurance of keeping the customer satisfied. But , I had no doubts/fears ....it's nice to perform on a stage that's bigger than a postage stamp. And you said HOT , but how screaming hot ? And airlines ...did it fly in the over head , gate check or under the buss?

Don,
One of the hotter stages for me in recent history.
We went on mid afternoon, weird daytime show and the sun came around just right to beat down on us. 100+ fahrenheit. When we finished the show the top of the guitar was difficult to come in contact with, as the surface was very hot to touch, too hot to put directly in the case until it cooled down.
The Edmonton show was much more temperate and at night/evening.

The guitar was checked in as regular baggage under the plane.
There can be difficulties carrying on in a gig bag with some Canadian flights (Air Canada literally had a rule/law forbidding it) so I just don't mess with it anymore.
Funny thing: on the way up we barely made our connection flight due to weather. I watched out the window thinking that the guitar wouldn't make it but just in the last minute a baggage cart pulled up in the pouring rain and someone popped out with the guitar, dropped it on the conveyor belt from about 2 1/2 feet up, and I do mean "dropped" and away we went. When I got to Edmonton and opened the case there were dried water marks on the guitar, inside the case from the rain so...It wasn't babied, that's for sure, LOL.

Cheers,
Jeff

Like Don said, most EXCELLENT video Jeff! It really does show how much you care about your customers and attention to detail. The guitar sounds great, really versatile. Chris was right in a Facebook post early on where she said you could get some tele tones out of it. Can't wait to get my hands on mine and you better believe I'll be showing it off at StompFest.

Love the elegantly simple setup.
