Man, that looks awesome. I need to move somewhere where that sort of thing happens.
I love how they specify in the article that it's Booker T & the MG's (featuring Steve Cropper and Duck Dunn).

Warren,
I think they're taking it on the road. I know they're playing San Francisco. Maybe they'll get down your way. I've seen the MGs about 6 times and they never disappoint. Still really good. And on these shows, they're the backup band for William Bell and Eddie Floyd, as they were on the original recordings.

Thanks for the heads up--I'll definitely keep an eye out for that. Worst case scenario, I'm booking a flight to San Francisco.

This info is available from Ticketmaster . It doesn't mention the MGs.

I've seen Booker T sans MG's in Union Square, SF last year. It was cool, but not nearly as cool as with the others. I think I'll wait.

Only in spirit. He was murdered in the early 80s. One of the many Memphis "unsolved mysteries". He was truly the best. Their drummer who has been with them for years since does a great job. He has to, but there is no comparison.

This is all I can find on the web:
http://www.stax50.com/blog/
Scroll down to the section called Stax on the Silver Screen and it mentions a show at the Hollywood Bowl on July 18th. I guess that is what I was thinking of...

I've seen that too. Doesn't come close. Steve and Duck really get it going.
