With all this talk about Astronauts tone, I figured I'd bump this thread.
I am utterly astounded that more of you guys aren't geeked up about this.
New Kilaueas tracks! A new Surfer Joe original! Great covers of some of the Astronauts greatest hits! And a truly authentic Astronaut style reverb drip that will make you swear you were listening to re-mastered Astronauts. Especially the Lorenzo tracks. I don't know what his tricks are, but he absolutely NAILS that Astronaut sound!
If you don't have this yet, or don't plan on picking up the vinyl, then turn in your Surf Fan Membership Card and go home.

Aw, too bad. Sorry Josh  I do have the Kilauea's soundfiles that Ralf let me have as a sneak preview. I was going to wait to hear Lorenzo's before I write anything up. But I have no trouble saying that the Kilauea's have really raised the bar on their own playing and on getting a great surf sound recorded in this digital age.

of course 2 copies, one for me and one for the kilaueas. then we decided to sell our own copies because surf music will not bring us nowhere. so we start playing rockabilly.

In the early 1980s I bought a bootleg copy on blue vinyl of the LP "Save For A rainy Day" by Jan & Dean (actually it was Dean´s album).
A guy by the name of Frank K. (known personality among J & D collectors) wrote to me shortly after that asking me how many copies (limited edition was 100) I got.
He wanted to buy all of them. I neglected to sell my copy.
Looks like Ralf and Lorenzo try to keep the fire burning as long as the vinyl wasn´t available. Good news to hear that it should be in Berlin on Friday, August 18th.
