Awww, y'all are just too sweet.

I don't know if there is such a thing as too much PBR. I'm a big fella, so I can hold my own pretty well.

And Kristena, what can I say? Like Jake - I'm all about the vintage

Don't get me wrong, I like beer too.

Mojitos are pretty good!

Lately I've been hooked on Mai Tai's.
There was an old tiki restaurant in the DC area called the Honolulu and the former owner now sells his Mai Tai mix online, and it's like crack! He used to bartend at the former DC Trader Vic's so it's the real deal.

Go there now, buy yourself a couple or three bottles:

I had a vintage style Mojito at Trader Vics lounge in Beverly Hills recently, it was really good, I could hang out in a pool or beach patio area and drink those all day. But I do prefer the TV's Mai Tai and especially the Navy Grog, Phil Spectors drink of choice while at Trader Vics.

Back to the Beer topic.
I've been fiending for a Murphy's Irish Stout.
I'm watching the dogs at my Brother in Laws in Fullerton again, and I just might go over to the Old Ship (English pub tonight and have 1 or 4)
Wink

Cheers to the weekend everybody,
Cheers

Jeff(bigtikidude)

well I didn't get to the old ship.
But I did go to Taco Surf with Jon Paul, after the HB pier gig.
and I had a few Dos XX's, and a Tecate.
for those who have not been there,
Check out Taco Surf. its a cool surf vibe meets Mexican resturaunt, in Sunset Beach. Between Huntington and Seal Beach, on PCH.
across the street from Sam's seafood and right next to the big water tower
turned into a house.

Got a 6 pack of Pacifico (mexican beer) and some limes, on the way to my buddy Marc's house in Pacific Beach( SD area) on Sun.
we hung out on his 2nd story patio/porch over hang. with surf tunes blasting over looking one of the bays in SD with boats and Jet skis racing around, and palm trees swaying in the wind.
all he needed was some hammocks....

Pacifico! that's a good beer for the beach I love that stuff. Cheers

You live a ruff life there Jeff. Wink

We just had a huge liquior store open close to us called Specs.
It's a chain out of Houston I think, anyway the beer selection is un-godly big!
I've been going nuts trying out all the mirco-brew and import beer.

ahhhhh beer....... Drool

The Thunderchiefs

if anyone's ever passing through grand junction, colorado there is a store called 'crossroads spirits and wine' that has a giant walk-in beer cooler where you can assemble your own 6 pack from hundreds of different brands/kinds of beer. it's pretty cool.

www.surfintheeye.com

also there is a huge wine cellar, spirits and Beer store in
Costa Mesa/Newport Beach area called High Times, that has a huge walk in cooler. Tons of Micro brews and Imports I never heard of.
course I'm not a huge beer hound.
The tiki crowd loves that place as its one of just a few places to get the really hard to find things for correct tropical drinks.

I keep telling Kristena she needs to get over there.

I wouldn't call Pacifico an excellent beer, but yeah good for hanging out
on a patio on a warm sunny day and kicking back. Not really condussive
to drinking Guiness huh?

Yeah Life in So. Cal. is a real bitch sometimes, but we try to make the best of it. Wink Shocked

So Dave Arnson of the Insect Surfers and i are having a few Coronas at the Baja Cantina on wed. night. and this guy comes up and asks if we know why we shouldn't drink Corona.
we say no, why?
he says that its a commonly known fact in Mexico that, the workers pssl all over and in the bottles before they fill them up.
any body heard of this.
I'm not sure I buy it.

Thats why they are so good.

I thought thats why the lime was needed.
but then I learned that Lime makes everything better (I.e. tacos and Rum)

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Interesting factoid - the habit of putting limes in beer in Mexico came from all the insects they have - many of the flies would often land in beers as they were being consumed, so they soon figured out that the citric acid in the lime kept flies away (kind of like a citronella candle).

I visited the Pacifco brewery when I was in Mazatlan last December-they also happen to make Corona there because the same company owns both brands. They took us all around the facilities and nowhere did I observe anybody pissing on or in anything. Ofcourse I can only speak for that facility. And come to think of it I doubt they would include the room where the workers urinate on the bottles on the tour. Might be bad for business.

Well if you're uncertain about the truth of this story, you can of course always p in the bottle yourself after opening it. you know, just to be sure.
