There's tons but for p90's and surf I think low wind bright maybe hi fi pickups such as Lindy Fralin or Lollar low wind p90. |

Ventures Mosrite guitars do not have P90s and they sound nothing like them. Mosrite p'ups are very hot and have a snarling tone. Lots of surf music uses these axes but P90s won't get you there. Try Japanese Mosrite or M3 California to get authentic Ventures tone. —Last edited: Aug 02, 2016 20:06:40 |

I have a Gibson les Paul with p90s. Anyone try the alnico pole p90s by Lindy Fralin? I heard they sound similar to jazzmaster pickups. I'm left handed and lefty jazzmasters are hard to get. |

The Lindy Fralin P90s sound great, though different than JM pickups. A big reason that Fano had that run of success was the Lindy Fralin P90s in many of them (had one, played several). —Paul |

Gibson p90s work ok for more aggressive surf but don't quite work for cleaner stuff. I'm trying to get a JM vibe by replacing the pickups with Fralins. I'll try to listen to the Fano to get some idea of the tone. Thanks |

Love P90's, but too noisy for me. —How's your digestion now? |

I've used the alnico pole P-90's from both Fralin and Lollar. I find the Lollars to be a little sweeter sounding and also have more bass than the Fralins. The Fralins, especially in the bridge lack some bass to my ears. Cheers, http://www.facebook.com/CrazyAcesMusic |
