Permalink Songs that are too stupid, dated or hokey to play but the crowd loves em!

Just saw a couple videos of Los Straitjackets playing Batman and the crowd went wild. They kind of segued in and out of Wipeout. Clever actually, as unsophisticated as can be but groovy fun.

Think I'll get my guys to do the same thing but throw in Outer Limits for good measure.

Waddya got?

The bird is the word!

A purely musician’s musician band will throw out anything that could function as bait and hook for the random audience.

The Exotic Guitar of Kahuna Kawentzmann

You can get the boy out of the Keynes era, but you can’t get the Keynes era out of the boy.

Old TV show theme songs! The Cocktail Preachers do an excellent version of "Hawaii 5-0." Smile

Fast Cars & Loud Guitars!

Batman, yes! Years ago, in my college days, I was in a rockabilly band at Penn State. We used to play a little bar there every Saturday night. One night, this big drunk guy kept screaming "BATMAN! PLAY BATMAN!" after every song. We were like, "Hey, we're a rockabilly band. We don't know no Batman!" But he kept screaming for it, song after song. Well, it certainly doesn't take any musical wizardry to play Batman, and I pretty much knew the song just from fooling around. So, I announced a quick break to the crowd and called a huddle with the other guys. I mean, everybody knows the song even if they never played it, right? I just walked 'em through the number as I knew it. Then, "OK everybody. Here's a song you all might remember. It's called Batman!" We pulled it off, the crowd went nuts, and the big drunk guy was appeased. It went over so well, we decided, "What the hell?" and added it our repertoire.
