Sadly, I will not be able to follow-through with my plans to fly-in from Vancouver to go the amazing convention - I am really bummed out because of it. But it is due to being fed up with my job after 17 yrs in IT and I just resigned this week, so, onwards and upwards.
For those of you who are going, make the absolute most of it and have a fantastic time. What a killer, killer line-up.
Jeff, you have really outdone yourself and well done on all the hard work to bring this together. Seriously.
I will be there in spirit! Catch you guys hopefully sometime in the next couple of conventions!

Big Thanks to Matt Quilter and John Blair for talking to Randy and getting him to Confirm. I believe that Randy will be playing with Outerwave, as they do his 3 big hits. I think the Legends set will be at 1pm.
But get their early to get a good seat, and you don't want to miss The original surfaris tribute.

My Denver friend Jerry Davis (not a member of the Forum) responded to the news on Holden by hoping one of the three pieces was Everybody Up. I told him "I make it, Everybody Up, Margaya, and Malibu Run, but if I'm wrong and he does Little Ollie or Highway Surfer I won't care. It doesn't even matter which one of those last two is which." And that about sums it up, except that, by the way, this might be a good time to ask him which of the last two is which.
Incidentally, I am hearing rumors - maybe I just missed the news, as little as I'm around these days - that some other folks from the original generation of surf bands will be there.

One thing I can confirm is that I will be there. I'll hit Thursday (Arroyo Grande) through Tuesday, though I'm finding it a bit hard to be sure I have a current list of the peripheral events, and I have the impression that the arrangements for the week between the Convention and Tiki Con may have changed from the poster. I need to sort that out.

Messer Chups in Colton on Sunday got cancelled.
Go to Surf Dogs in HB for member Jam.
Mon. Is Bradipos IV and Phantom Four at Surf Dogs in HB
Tuesday Aug. 16th is Vooduo,Messer Chups, and Phantom Four
at the Redwood in Downtown LA.
Wed August 17th is Bradipos At the Pike in Long Beach,
Or
Messer Chups and Phantom Four at the Golden Tiki in Las Vegas.
Thursday aug. 18th is Phantom Four and Jason Lee at tiki oasis
Or
Bradipos IV at the Golden Tiki in Las Vegas.
Friday August. 19th is Bradipos IV at Joshua Tree Saloon.

OK, this is too cool not to pass on, and I think after some checking that it's not a secret, so I'll just say right out that Jim Tran posted a comment on a not entirely random post on my FB page to the effect that "Al Valdez [keys], Mike Biondo [drums], and Jim Tran [bass] (of the Original Surfaris)" will be at the Convention on the 13th. I believe they are just attending to see the fun, but it will be kind of amazing to be in the same room with three members of the Original Surfaris. Jim, at least, is travelling a pretty fair distance to get there, since he lives somewhere down in Baja.

Pre show update:
Thursday Aug. 11th. Redwood pre convention show got cancelled.
Mike Vernon was able to add the Bradipos IV to the record surplus in store that George Tomsco is doing. So now it is.
