Nice review, Brian! Thanks for taking the time to write it. I've been on the verge of buying one of these for a bit.
I've got one of Ty's "Takezo" Overdrives. http://www.piercecustominstruments.com/product/takezo-overdrive/ Great pedal. Significantly different than most overdrives. Very different from the Tubescreamer clan. In the vein of Craig Anderson's "Tube Sound Fuzz' circuit from the 70's, which was the basis for the Way Huge "Red Llama". The Tazeko is more versatile, having a "Musashi" toggle that tames the circuit some. In this mode, the Tazeko offers more in the low-gain territory (with less wooliness, less muddiness) than the Red Llama and Anderson circuits. But you have the option of the high gain as well, with the flip of the Musashi toggle switch. Graphics are great. Hand-made with care by Ty. Cool pedal, warm to my heart, because my first dirt pedal was an Anderton Tube Sound Fuzz that I built from a kit. I wore the dang thing out, and now, in the Taezo OD, have an enhanced version.
