Anyone know any drummers in the central coast area in California? I'm in Salinas, can travel to Monterey or Santa Cruz easily to jam. I play guitar and bass, definitely a newbie at surf rock guitar, very experienced in bands on bass, trying to knock the rust off and improve my skills by jamming with someone. I find I'm much better in a room with other musicians than writing and playing by myself at home. No pressure or expectations, just looking for a drummer into the style to jam and work out some simple original tunes for fun. May lead to a band situation down the road.
I'm in my late 30's, married, with a kid, full time job with nights and weekends on. Have gear and transportation, easy going, but dedicated and motivated. If anyone on here wants to jam or know anyone who might be interested, shoot me a message or something, already tried CL and got flaked on multiple times.

I haven't had much luck with this, a few false starts, but I also haven't been playing much the last couple months either. I just posted a new CL ad, if anyone knows a drummer who's looking to jam (especially if they're kind of rusty or not currently in a band) please do pass it on...

Been having similar drummer problems. Have auditioned a few with no luck. The last guy was all gung ho until I gave him our setlists, he then bowed out saying the music didn't "inspire" him.
One of the guys in our group has a Beat Buddy and knows how to use it. It sounds great! I wouldn't have any heartburn gigging with it until the right drummer shows up.

I've just been programming beats in Superior Drummer 2.0 or Logic Drummer, for practicing and recording demos of song ideas at home. I'm totally fine with that, I used to play drums and take lessons for a couple years and I played melodic percussion for drum line in school, so I know how to analyze and construct beats (even if I'm not great on a real kit). My big problem when I try to play with people is I find someone, jam with them, talk to them, it goes great, then they cancel the next jam session because they're sick or busy and then they never get back to me or answer emails/messages again. That's only happened a couple times for surf rock band attempts in the past 6 months, but it's been happening here for years in all sorts of styles of music for me. Musicians in this area seem to either move away or play styles of music I don't interact with, so it's hard to get anything solid going.
I don't play covers either, just originals. Covers might be easier in some regards, I just like writing songs and drummers always do seem to get more excited about jamming out their own parts in a well defined genre. I would probably play a heck of a lot more if I did just stick to covers, it's just never been my thing.
