Thanks for the tip on the Sharp Five - love the 60's Indy car photos (sorry, I'm a race geek).
I recently saw Minneapolis' own Big Surf live, and bought a couple of their CDs - I recommend the band as very talented, and the CD Hang Eleven is very cool - check them out! As a bonus, they're very nice guys and I had a good talk with them on surf music, gear etc.
Rock on!

Good luck--their stuff pops up on eBay from time to time. All the stuff of theirs I've picked up has been off eBay. There's tracklists for several of their albums on the Eleki thread that's back in the archives somewhere.
Happy hunting,

I picked up the new Relix cd when they played at the Surf Museum a few weeks back. Some cool heavy tunes, and also some very nice mellow Exotic surf styled songs.

It's not like that's all from this week or anything - that's about three weeks or so worth of surf purchases. Plus I didn't pay more than $10 or $12 for any of them. I've blown way more in one day at Amoeba then I spent for all those combined.

I finally picked up a copy of The Defiant Ones -- I really like it. There are some vocal tunes on there that are okaaay, but all the instro stuff is really heavy and straight forward.
Plus it uses baritone guitar so much, which puts a smile on my face.

The Cavernarios - The Cavernarios ( www.myspace.com/thecavernarios ) They're a Mexican Surf/Garage band, I truly recommend them.
The Ventures - Live in Japan '65
No need to say anything about this album. Fantastic.
Lost Acapulco - Ahora Mucho Mas Sopa (Demo)
This is actually from my favorite band of all time. I got it directly from the rhythm guitarist. He kindly converted it from cassette to cd. Lost Acapulco is a Mexican Surf/Garage combo that wears Mexican Wrestling masks on stage like Los Straitjackets, they have actually played together in Mexico and they're good friends. I'm a lucky guy, I still can't believe I got my favorite band's demo. www.myspace.com/lostacapulko

I just won this 1963 live album featuring the Rhythm Kings and Dave Myers & the Surftones. I'm especially looking forward to check out Myers' version of "Pipeline". From Reverb Central review: "This is one of the more hard edged versions of "Pipeline" from the sixties. Very bass heavy, it sports bass glissandoes and great vibrato lead guitar. Too cool!"

Wow, great score. I think Phil Dirt had that version in one of his hour-long reverb dream setlists. If it's the one I'm thinking of, then it's pretty awesome.
I recently snagged these LPs for $3 each:

Both are in really good shape, though Summer Surf doesn't have the bonus single.
I also picked up the CD reissue of Terauchi Takeshi's Tsugaru Jyongara-Bushi album, which is really disappointing. Low energy, layers of dry guitars, total 70's production ... even the title track was a let down.

Pyronauts , Live at the Mystic Theater,
and the Continental mag with comp cd.
Bill sent me the Lava Rats cds "don't drink the water" for letting him and the boys sleep at my pad while they were down here.
Jake sent me a copy of the Verb's cd "Reverbarated for your Pleasure"
for helping them get gigs for their So.Cal. section of their tour.
and Doug(stormtiger) sent me the new Incredible Mr. Smith "Adventures in the land of Twang "cd. I guess for posting so much info about shows and such.
thanks guys, appreciate it.
