What are colors you absolutely love on your surf guitars?
what are some you hate?
Do you prefer heavy sparkle or just regular colors?
My company is getting some jazzmaster type guitars in stock and I am trying to decide on the color schemes, so I thought I'd check with everybody here.

Love: Olympic White and every custom color.
Love: Sparkle
Don't Love: Surf Green (the Stairway to Heaven of colors); Black
Hope that helps.

Candy Apple Red, No sparkle. the perfect colour.
Black as a second choice if #1 was not to found after an exhaustive search.
Third would be that Fender white al la Hendrix cream coloured Strat.

shocked that black is requested for a JM type.
I've always seen black more as a strat/LP color, and an overdone one at that.
Love to hear the opinions!

If I can match it to a tortoise pickguard I'm happy. Usually on the less flashy side: Olympic White, Elvis Costello-style brown, Black (had a big Cure phase, what can I say!?). Sunburst I hated when I was younger but I like now. I conclude it is an old man colour and that I am quickly becoming an old man.
Also dislike the 50's pastel colours (surf green, sonic blue). I actually don't like candy apple red, especially on a jazzmaster.
I really like sparkles but I probably wouldn't buy a sparkling guitar unless it was really really nice. They are a bit flashy and don't really suit me. I found the fender burgundy mist sparkle one was really nice.
I find there is a certain... classiness about the jazzmaster (compared to a jaguar at least) that changes my preference significantly.

Surf Green I abhor. The world doesn't need anymore Candy Apple or Lake Placid Blue(unless aged to a green).
Ice Blue is probably over done right now. Sunburst wouldn't look right in poly.
I think some combinations of Olympic White, Shell Pink, Aztec Gold, Inca Silver, Sonic Blue, and Sherwood Green would sell well for you. Shell Pink and Sherwood are really popular these days with the offset community.

At this point every color is overdone. I'd have to stay with the basics:
Olympic, 3ts, black, and lpb.
I don't really know what kind of stuff consumers are actually buying these days though.

Shell Pink, Sonic Blue, and Olympic White, and Fiesta Red are always nice. I love Dakota Red and large metal flake hues as well. Agreed that Sea Foam and Surf Green are way overdone.

No black for me. Surf is happy for me and black isn't a happy color.

Candy Apple Red never gets old for me, and the Coral Red offered by Yamaha on their SG-2 and SG-3 models hits the mark, too. Most shades of blue, -- except for light, sky blue-types -- look great, but my faves would be the old Danelectro colors Blue Sparkle and Deep Blue Pearl Metallic. The latter shifts between purple, black, and deep blue, depending on the lighting. The former practically screams: "Hey! Surf!"
Honorable mention: Fender Japan's version of Ocean Turquoise Metallic; extremely oceanic, baby.

Thought I liked surf green, until I met Daphne Blue. My bass is chrome red, which I absolutely love. Can't stand sunburst. Dave Wronski's coke bottle green sparkle is to die for.

Ok!
so the BWG Malibu order has been placed with my manufacturers!
In about 45 days or so I will be posting pix of my Jazzmaster wanna be guitars. Slight changes here and there, but still offset, surfy, and a lot of fun!
Price will be well under $200 as I'm not in this to get rich. ;)
