Just received this cool guy. Has anybody else given it a shot yet?

You sounded very impressed on Instagram. How you liking it?

It'll never replace my tubes and springs but it does get me much closer than any other reverb pedal I've tried. Definitely usable!

I've been curious about that MXR.
Eric, is it better than the Boss FRV-1?

Cheers,
Jeff

Hi Jeff!
I'd say yes. To me, most reverb pedals with a spring setting sound like weird delays. This one achieves a pretty convincing sound. Tripps and Santiago worked really hard on the design, I'm real impressed.

I'm also very interested in the MXR. I had the Boss FRV at one time and didn't care for it much, and have tried numerous reverbs before and since. For now, I'm using a HOF mini but really like what I hear in the MXR demos. Of course, you know how demos can not always represent what YOU hear when you play through the same pedal.

I tend to play with more delay/echo than reverb and the MXR appears to have those capabilities as well.

Does it drip at all?
From the demos I've heard, it sounds like it has nice depth, but I don't hear any drip.

Maybe a little drip here at 0:45 - 1:05

You can also hear a little bit of drip in this demo at 5:05

Wow, yeah, that sounds pretty drippy in that video Johnny Z. I dunno about better or worse than any other pedal, but on its own terms it sounds pretty decent in a room recording with people talking over. Which is the next best thing to "in the mix" I guess. Sounds pretty nice.

I have read some sources that say this pedal has to have it's own independent power supply. Is this accurate? Could the MXR m300 run along with others pedals with power from a Voodoo power brick and if not, why not?

I saw some limeys demonstrating the pedal and it looked like they used an mxr power source for several pedals.
I wonder how this device stacks up to other digital reverbs like Strymon's and Catalinbread.

Squink Out!

It will run off any 9v source that is giving it 240 mA. Do you mean the Voodoo Pedal Power? That would have no problem running this pedal no matter what else was hooked up to it. Each output on that pedal is a separate power connection.

Thanks Jake. Yes, I am running a Voodoo Pedal Power 4x4.
