I just got two of the newest "tortoise" guards Fender is offering now. My 2000 Jag had the worest guard I had ever seen and the 2003 had a slightly better looking guard, but still not that hot. These new ones are pretty nice and look even better in person.

Much better Bill. I'm glad you were able to pick a couple up. Your Jags look better now.

Thanks Jake, I know we were both talking about how the AV sunburst isn't so great. I think the guard makes a big difference for that guitar.

Funny, I was actually complaining about how yellow the Fender tort guard that I bought for my MIM Strat was...Eddie and Mitch's guitars and basses have the very red Fender guards as does my Jazzmaster, but the Strat's (which I assume is new because I bought it from a high volume parts dealer) has all that yellow swirled into it. Is this supposed to be more like what they were like in the 60's?

Bill, where'd you order them from?
My JM pickguard looks almost solid from a distance.

Angela Instruments has them for $34.00. I thought that was a fairly good deal. I had seen these new guards going for $60 on ebay a few months ago.
