Cobbling together a surf band. So far we're doing mostly first wavish tradional type instrumentals. Probably our craziest song so far would be Martin Cilia's "Flight of the Surf Guitar". Love his website by the way.
Wondering what y'all think is your craziest surf song? Perhaps something on the edge of your technique, a bit of a stretch as it were. Maybe a touch "outside" the norm.
Fishing for ideas here, let's have 'em!
Thanks

For us it might be "Running Donkey" by Kosaku Dan (Yuzo Kayama).
It's not all that challenging but it's basically a polka beat, a fun song and folks love the shout outs.
Our version sounds closer to the Royal Fingers' version.
I would venture to say that our originals are often outside the norm and we actually like to have some of those be challenging for fun and growth or good laughs if we stumble.
Cheers,
Jeff

Jeff, I love your "Attention Shoppers." Great classic supermarket sound!

Ha Ha!
Thank You
When that melody popped in my head that's exactly what I thought..."well that's a supermaket muzak theme, why's that in my head?" LOL
"Millions In Prizes" is very "game show".
What the hell is wrong with me? Ha Ha
Cheers,
Jeff

Right now it would be our "Valley of the Kings".

Maid, but never played it out.

hum ... i would say it is "Egyptian Reggae" by Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers - not necessarily crazy, but not in the repertoire of every surfband ...

The very first time I heard that all I could think of was the classic "Blue Light Special" in a K-Mart.

After several adult beverages and thoughts of different songs we could learn we came up with a crazy one a few weeks ago. It's surf all the way. Lost In Space theme.

Thanks Wes!
We announce "Blue Light Special" all the time before or after that song so...
you're on the same page with our weird and often silly minds and I mean that in the best way.

Ugh. Both versions in that clip are the second theme. The first is a lot darker. Maybe a medley?

I love the first Lost in Space theme, and not so much the later one. I saw video of a girl playing all the parts on various acoustic instruments and was impressed. Tese music kids just make me green.
Right now we are getting into horror schlock. Night of the Vampire by Moontrekkers is one I figured out the other day. Has interlocking fuzz and twang guitar lines and plays really well on B flat baritone guitar ( it's in b flat minor). Another kooky tune is Clockwork Orange theme, i.e. Purcell's Music for Queen Mary's Funeral, and Edvard Grieg's Trolldtog which is piano music that is very challenging to play but a blast.
