All right, time to trot out a pet peeve of mine which is musicians who wear ugly looking sandals or similar when they play.
The simple fact of the matter is that men's feet are ugly. Bad enough is the tired and ubiquitous ensemble of ill-fitting shorts paired with flip-flops or sandals but to have to look at an old overweight pair of untanned feet with black curly hairs and thick yellow rhino-horn like toenails is to make one evacuate breakfast.
Don't get me started on Hawaiian shirts. Bali Hi anyone?
Our drummer announced that his band uniform is going to be shorts, sandals and hawaiian shirt. Maybe even a stupid looking hat. He's really pale and I can't wait for him to complete his look with a nasty red sunburn.
Cowabunga.
Edited to add: you have my permission to use "Rhino Horn" for a band name.

Get together with all your band members and come up with some sort of band uniform. Matching bowling style shirts or suits, even the same color t shirts. Shorts are ok as long as you have a little tan on your legs. Sandals and flip flops are only for walking to and from the beach to your car.
When I see bands dressed like your drummer wants to dress I expect to hear bad covers of Wipeout and Tequila.
If you're playing outside and someone needs a hat to avoid sunburn. A baseball cap or pork pie hat is way better than those ugly straw sun hats.
